Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 18/1/1

Villain is pretty fishy and passive, but not necessarily a station. Trying to decide whether to check or bet the flop here. I'd been c-betting near 100% this tourney, and Villain had been at my table on several occasions. On the other hand the is a $1 tourney and I've already said villain is a fish so I can't expect he/she would have noticed that.

I'm thinking now I should have checked in hopes that villain would catch up here. You agree?

No, you played it fine. With the 10 on the board, your opponent might have outdrew you to a straight. Checking on the flop wouldn't be a bad play but I would have bet on the turn unless the turn was another Ace.

Definitely a bet, especially given your reads and description of game flow. I'd probably bet a little more, then you can jam the turn.

Does anyone think there's any merit to just shoving the flop?

Eh, you're probably right I should be thinking about how to get all the chips in. I tend to bet smaller when I think I have my opponent drawing nearly dead, hoping they'll be able to catch up a little. That's probably not the best strategy (people will catch on as I move up to tougher games).

I'd think vs. a weak fishy opponent shoving would just result in a fold unless they have the case A. A thinking opponent might start wondering if it looks like a bluff and make a hero call with 77 or something. Or if the fish were a total station a shove might be good too.

IMO shoving the flop would only work if villain sees jamming the flop as a bluff. I could see that working in higher buyins but unlikely at $1.75, given so many people overbet after flopping top pair.

I think a 1/3 pot bet was correct, given there were gutshot possibilities and villain's range could likely include KQ suited since he had position.

Again, what do I know, just my 2 cents.

Then again in a bounty tournament, there is a little more merit to shoving here since CO has me covered. People smell that quarter and they want to bust you. :)

 I didn't even realize it was a bounty! True, good point. I also mistakenly replied that it was a $1.75, instead of a $1.40. It's late.
