$1.10 NL HE: 88 - not aggressive enough?

I'm not cashing in many MTT's as i'm not aggressive enough and seem to get blinded out just before making the money.

I think i played this hand totally wrong and would like some advice on where i should have shoved - i'm guessing PF because there was so much in the pot. i think i must have been playing it scared, i don't know, it was just crappy bad play on my part:

sorry i don't have any stats or any helpful info, the hand just seemed to 'happen' without any though processes going into it.

There is so much in PF that I couldn't fault you for shoving there - even the narrowest of UTG raising ranges includes AK/AQ and given all the dead money in the pot that's probably all we need to make shoving profitable, plus there's a (albeit small) possibility that we take it down uncontested and/or one of the callers is bad enough to jam with a hand we dominate.

So yeah, you have a pretty much ideal stack here for shoving pre. As an added bonus by shoving PF you negate your positional disadvantage postflop (which was a big issue in how the hand actually played out, I'm sure you'll agree).

This HH converter made a mess of things, SB 1st to act??

Anyway, M<10, lots of 'dead' chips in the pot, you have a better than top 5% hand, you are OOP
= ArrrInnn

If someone was slow playing AA/KK or calls with 2 overs and hits then so be it. This is an ideal spot to chip up and get ITM.

this is just a very passive line, 3-betting pre is definitely a good play, after it's checked around on the flop and a brick hits the turn, we can shove here, too. We're never going to accumulate chips by just calling, unfortunately.

yeah, i realise i played it mega wrong. if i'd have shoved Pre flop and took it down i would have doubled up anyway - a caller and a win and i treble up.
or i should have shoved the flop.
i played it waaaaaaay wrong.

thanks for your advice. i played the same tourner earlier, similar scenario, this time i shoved with TT in limped pot, got called by 88 (woohoo!)who hit trips on flop (doh!) and knocked me out.

Hey ho ! onto the next one !

T.
