Anyone see Jason Heyward's first major league at bat? It was a 3 run homer.

Zambrano gave up eight runs in 1 1/3 innings.

The Braves are 1-0 after thrashing the Cubs 16-5 on opening day.

Bobby has been one of the greatest things to have ever happened to Atlanta and to baseball imo. Also this kid is fantastic, hes got a knack for hitting to all fields and has quiet a bit of strength for such a young ball player. Will be exciting to watch..

Will be sad to see Bobby Cox leave after the season:(

Looks like he is gonna be a super star....the Braves didn't make a mistake bringing him now, instead of playing him in the minors.

He's ahead of his time and will only get better with age.

(They said in spring training he broke car windows hitting it out 500+ feet with ease.)

Some interesting stories have come out about how the Braves and his HS coaches had an agreement that the coach wouldn't talk him up to other teams' scouts, that he'd be listed smaller than his true height and weight, and that he wouldn't work out for other teams, in order to keep his draft status down so he could go to the hometown team in the draft.

That is true!

The Braves have always liked hometown heros...

The Braves have drawn 44,440 more fans than they did through the first six home dates of the 2009 season. For sure, they benefited from opening this season against the popular Cubs. Last year, the first two home series were played against the Nationals and Marlins.

But while listening to fans roar and chant Heyward's name as he came to the plate on Opening Day, Braves manager Bobby Cox is convinced that Heyward has already influenced the attendance numbers at Turner Field.

"He has excited these fans," Cox said. "We're getting some pretty decent crowds right now with some teams that we don't normally draw that well with. He's a big part of that."
Heyward was featured in last week's edition of Sports Illustrated, and as he continues to draw media attention, the Braves know that the benefits he can provide extend far beyond his athletic skills.

This guy is amazing.

Bottom of the ninth, two outs, bases empty, down 3-2 to the Phillies.

SOLO SHOT!

Tie game.

I've never seen a rookie produce like this.

Couldn't quite do it last night, but the GS to win it in the 9th was crazy too - 3-9 to 10-9 for the Braves 3rd straight walk-off win!
