On the back of a 100 per cent start here at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, chile will be confident of securing a Round of 16 berth. Standing in their way, however, are Group H rivals Spain, who bounced back from their opening reverse against switzerland and will likely need all three points against the Chileans to reach the next phase. The Swiss, sunk 1-0 by Chile on 22 June, need to beat bottom-placed Honduras and await the result of Chile-Spain to learn their fate.
As it stands
Chile, 6 points (+2; 2 goals scored)
Spain, 3 points (+1; 2 goals scored)
Switzerland, 3 points (0; 1 goal scored)
Honduras, 0 points (-3; 0 goals scored)
Next up
Chile-Spain, 25 June, Tshwane/Pretoria, 20.30 (local time)
Switzerland-Honduras, 25 June, Mangaung/Bloemfontein, 20.30 (local time)
Qualifying criteria
According the Regulations of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, the ranking of each team in each group will be determined as follows:
a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;
b) goal difference in all group matches;
c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.
If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings will be determined as follows:
d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned;
e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned;
f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned;
g) drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.
Permutations

- If Chile beat Spain and Honduras beat Switzerland, Chile will take top spot and goal difference will decide which of the other three teams takes second place.
- If Chile beat Spain and Honduras draw with Switzerland, Chile will finish first and the Swiss second.
- If Spain beat Chile and Honduras beat Switzerland, Spain will finish first on goal difference from the second-placed Chileans.
- If Spain beat Chile and Switzerland defeat Honduras, Spain will qualify ahead of Chile. Switzerland could still overtake Spain and/or Chile depending on goal difference.
- If Spain beat Chile and Switzerland draw with Honduras then Spain and Chile will qualify in first and second respectively.
- If Spain draw with Chile and Switzerland beat Honduras, Chile will finish top and Switzerland second.
- If Spain draw with Chile and Honduras beat Switzerland, Chile will finish first and Spain second.
- If both games end in draws, Chile will finish first and Spain second.
