I use HEM2 small stakes, but also used to use PT3 a while back. They are both great, and and u/44Blackhawk said, they both have free trial, so why not give em both a try and see which one you prefer the best.

I actually really liked PT3 when I used it, but when it came time for me to purchase one I went with HEM because I heard they were more geared towards cash games, and PT was geared more towards MTTs/SnGs. I dunno if this is even the case anymore, as both work for both types of games just fine AFAIK.

I just did a quick Google search and it seems HM1 is not allowed on Stars any more, because they only allow 2 color thresholds to be used for stats. http://forums.holdemmanager.com/man...-no-longer-allowed-full-tilt-poker-stars.html

edit: to be fair you did ask about HEM2, and I don't think Holdem Manager themselves even update or support HEM1 themselves anymore

You can still use HEM2, not just HEM1 AFAIK.

That is HM1.

They are imposing rules that greatly inhibit how HUDs can work. The changes were described by Amaya a few months ago and can be viewed here - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/tpt-reference-guide.pdf

which is discussed in detail in this thread - http://forums.holdemmanager.com/notecaddy/531706-poker-stars-new-rules.html

These features that will no longer work on the live tables will still work in the replayer for the hands played at Stars and Full Tilt as long as the poker client is closed.

We have changed other features in HM2 such as the HUD Settings > Stat Appearance > 'Color Ranges' only the first 3 colors/ranges will work on FTP/Stars and Auto Rate features are also not allowed at live tables.

This is about as good of an over view on the differences as you're going to see:

Holdem manager vs PokerTracker

I've had both (HM1, HM2), and owned Pokertracker since PT 2 (pt3 and 4).

HM2&PT4

Greetings! I am wondering which one is better suited for a rookie player: HM2 or PT4. Thanks in advance for your help.

PT4- less things to think about, good for mac users and a bit faster than HM2
HM2-If you love to customize your HUD, you should choose this.
you should try getting the free trial of Leak Buster, works on both.

Is it possible to be successful at poker without using advanced stats?

HM2 doesn't see POkerStars, what could be the problem?

That is, sees, but does not display statistics on the table
