Poker is going through a huge boom at the moment. With all this renewed interest I for see it being one of the top "sports" in the world.

The sky is the limit.

In ten years, there will probably be many more great players. The players who are starting now will improve their game greatly if they wish too.

Especially in tournys, just think how much the winnings have increased in the past few years. More players, more prize money, more incentive to improve your game.

I can see poker becoming a bigger "sport" like golf, as normal sports such as baseball, basketball, football and hockey decline because of overpaid stars causing higher prices to attend games. Poker and golf and individual contests will only reap the benfits.

Let the best man or woman win.

I didn't mean it to be a cheap shot towards golf, I was talking about individual sports or competitions, instead of team driven sports.

I played golf for almost ten years, and would like to take up again in the future.

What will likely happen with poker is that a great shift from one game to the next will occur. Games like Stud, Razz, HORSE tournaments are relatively thrown aside with the Hold 'em craze going on now.

Stud and Omaha (especially H/L) will likely take off and join Hold 'em on the popularity scale.

I see it being legislated. I see the age requirements being more strictly enforced. It certainly will still be popular though.
