There is a new gambling law in Netherlands introduced last month
and that would require entities to obtain a new gambling license.
I suppose this a temporary issue and Unibet will be back in Netherlands within few months.
BTW for all bitching about crazy poker rooms requirements...
here is excerpt from the new Dutch regulations
Remote Gambling Act will allow private operators to enter the market for the first time and permits new types of games, the unique Dutch approach in having a high-level emphasis on player protection is still seen in the details of the act:
- Casinos (both land-based and online) and other providers must use a central register (CRUKS) where all players are automatically registered by their social security number. Players will be able to self-exclude from all licensed websites. Once a player is excluded, players will not be able to access sites and operator cannot target them with marketing. The CRUKS does not apply to lotteries.
- Strict regulations on marketing and promotional methods.
- Mandatory age check using IDIN.
- Mandatory participation in ‘controledatabank’ (CBD), the control data base of the KSA. This data base will register all activity with online casinos and give the KSA a direct tool to monitor the casinos.
I would highlight here :
- where all players are automatically registered by their
social security number-
- and give the KSA
a direct tool to monitor the
casinos.-
