poker site 888NJ (the New Jersey version) just got rid of a bunch of their freerolls and replaced them with freebuys. That is, tournaments where you get a free initial stack, but there are rebuys and add ons are paid.
I really enjoyed the old tournaments. In particular, the $20 Freebies Freeroll (which ran 4 times a day with 4 winners receiving a $5 tourney tickets). That particular tournament had a decent starting stack and some interesting ICM situations near the end.
I can understand maybe the new format is more profitable to them, and don't begrugde them for mixing things up.
In any case, I'm sad that this change happened, but feel fortunate to have been able to enjoy them while it lasted. Thank you for the memories, 888! I'll have to see if I adjust to the new format.
