Hey, does anyone know what way to go about getting a sponsor for helping with tournament fees?

To be honest I really don't know the answer to this but it's not like the mid 2000's anymore. when you look at the sites and see how many they are sponsoring its not many. There could be other places t get a sponsorship, but they would have to understand the game of poker is a skill game and not be afraid to look like they are linked to gambling.

I think there are 2 things you need to be to get a sponsorship. You really need to win a major event or become a high roller type winning many of the smaller ones. The 2nd thing is yea really need to be a person who people love and want to support. What makes Chris Moneymaker a great choice is he is very personable and winning the main event the way he did make his sponsorable.

I hope you can find a way to be sponsored and would share with us how you go one. Many players would love to hear it.

As Luvepoker say, there are site sponsored pros, and to become one of them you typically need to be well known in the poker community first, which mean you must already have some kind of poker related career. There is not much point for sites in hiring some totally unknown person to promote the site. But maybe what you actually mean is how to get a backer or become part of a stable? This is something completely different, and here the answer is, you typically need to create a track record first, so you can prove to the backer, you are worth investing in.

I get around the whole paying for tournament fees issues by only playing freerolls. So basically I'm a sponsored freeroller. :sneaky:

I don't know if you mean to be sponsored by another person or by a poker room. There used to be sites that you could stake another player, so, you can try this way. If you meant to be sponsored by a poker room then it's way more difficult, you probably need to have great results or be a known poker influencer with thousands of followers, a good way is start your own twitch channel.
