I'm not actually looking to get banned myself.
I had a debate with a work colleague, he claims it is the casino's (live and online) responsibility to recognise a degenerate gambler and take steps to prevent them from playing.
I say the casino has no such responsibility, of course if you ask them to prevent you playing then they can offer advice to stop, by directing you to Gambleaware or some such. But if you don't take the advice and keep coming then its your problem not theirs.
I believe it is not up to other people to determine how I spend my money, even if I am 'wasting it' or it is 'detrimental to myself', these are opinions not facts and what gives someone else the right to tell me if im detrimental to my self or how to spend my money.

Plus, what determines problem gaming to an observer? If a player is losing 1k a week and the house approaches him and says 'we think you may be a problem gambler you should stop'. What if he turns out to be a wall street guy making 5k a week, or a dot com billionaire, that's going to offend him and they will lose the business.
Even if he's not he's still going to be pissed.
On the flip side of the argument, why is it only gambling that is viewed like this. What about other compulsions. What if I am obsessed with collecting stickers, I go out of my way to get rare stickers, I spend every penny I have on stickers, does the guy in the sticker shop have an obligation to stop me? hell no! Its my money ill do what I please with it.
If i go in and say 'my sticker obsession is killing me, i cant feed my kids, please stop selling me stickers' he's probably gonna say, 'whatever jack, see you next week.' and probably mail me a catalogue, and no one would be outraged by this, but if a casino does it its immoral and they are evil, only after your money, well guess what, so is the sticker guy.
