I played online poker for many years from Washington State even after the state declared it illegal and for several more after Black Friday. It’s a very complicated legal situation, however the state has not to date prosecuted, charged, arrested or even slightly harassed anybody for playing
poker online from Washington state.
The above link is outdated because we actually do have legal sports betting in the state of Washington, offered at sportsbooks in Tribal
casinos with
App betting set to start soon. There are even lawsuits working through the courts to allow the various cardrooms in the state to offer sports betting as well as legislation proposed with bipartisan support.
Things are slowly changing in the state, although it does seem to be staunchly desiring to limit
gambling in the state, at least legally.
As for my personal situation, I’ve recently moved very close to the border of Washington and Oregon. I work mostly in Oregon. My bank is based in Oregon. The only questions are : Is Washington geofenced from downloading the software, registering an account or playing on the software? Or would I have to do any or all of that while in the state of Oregon, if that state even allows you to do any of that. There’s also their smartphone app which would allow me to play without even needing to have my laptop with me. I also do travel to British Columbia,
canada a couple times a year. That is an option I would like to have available to me (although my wife might not agree with that).
I’m not too concerned with whether I can withdraw or deposit although both would be nice. I didn’t care much for doing either of those things while I was playing
real money online poker pre Black Friday.
Hopefully this will get me some better feedback especially from any players who have played on ACR from Oregon or Washington and can tell me if the software is even worth bothering with or if there are other options for playing.
