Pokerstars Overcharging Women

I notice women’s only games on pokerstars at 11c which are 9c + 2c rake. There are games open to all at 10c which are 9c + 1c rake.

What are people’s opinions on this?

I don't play on Stars so I don't know about these games so I would hope what is happening here is that these "womens only" games aren't actually women only tournaments and they are open (for legal reasons) and to get around this they give womens accounts a discount. This if I'm not mistaken is how brick and mortar casinos have to do it.

If this isn't the case. Yikes.

Edit: Even if this explanation is what is happening, paying a 100% increase in rake isn't beneficial to the women who play in it but to the poker site. With the live scenarios I'm pretty certain the extra buy-in is going into the player pool.

They used to have those super micro MTTs years ago.

Yes there are some of those 11c "ladys only" events, you talk about, but the lowest buyin regular events are for 55c, and there are not even any satellites for 10c. The closest thing, I can find, are some SnG satellites for 9+1c, but these are hyperturbos, and thats why, the rake is lower.

I think all their scheduled tourneys got that rake, the games with 10c with 1c rake are technically SnGs

I think I have seen these games , yeah , if this is right for the rake, then it's no good , but on the other hand these games are for fun , to make some women play , or try and start playing , 11c games are not to give them big wins and prizepools ,
I do not think PS targets them to earn more money , it's simply a mistake . Maybe women should have some freerolls or special games just for them

In 2017 PokerStars decided to raise the rake for MTTs with 20% for games under 20$. So for instance a 5,5$ MTT on Stars is no longer 5+0,5$ but 4,9+0,6$. Presumably what happened here is, that they dont want to charge a fraction of a cent in rake, and then rather than rounding down to 1c they decided to round up to 2c. Which dont really matter, since nobody are playing 11c MTTs to make a living or build up a bankroll. There are also 55c lady only event with the same 6c rake as other 55c events.
