I used to play plenty of MTT satellites. Then poker stars began reducing the number of guaranteed spots. I'll give them credit they got smart and removed any chance of an overlay. This is not my issue.
So I discover that I can save several hours by satelliting with the 16 person shootout (win 4 seat table and win or place second 4 seat table sit and go which awards 2 seats (and a consolation cash prize for 3rd). These are completed in about 10 minutes or less.
These were generally available for all of their larger guarantees.
Recently Poker Stars has been removing these $2.85 sit and go options to qualify for $22 tournaments, but they still have plenty of time wasting MTT options. Its got me scratching my head. There are still a few offered here and there, but getting sparser.
When I contact customer service to ask why, I get quoted the we can change offerings as we see fit rule. This provides no insight. If I received an answer that made sense I might say it makes for smarter business.
In their defense there have been several improvements (since the success of and likely driven by GGPoker). I love the sports betting exchange and would rate them an 8 or 9 out of 10.
My only remaining complaints are this and the fact that you cannot combine two $11 tickets in your inventory to play a $22 tournament. Also I do not think its fair to limit satellite qualifiers to one entry in a tournament allowing for multiple reentries but such is life.
I just had to get this off my chest. That and I dropped a bottle of cranberry juice this morning and it painted the inside of my fridge in the most unlikely places, so you know what I will be doing today. I hope your day is going better.
