Hello everyone. I used to play about 4 years ago now. The shut down thing kind of scared me out of online poker and into the casino.

I would like to start playing online again. Can some people give me some tips about some of the good sites I can play on?

what sites are safe for US players?
What do you like about this site?
How long have you played at this site?

Thank you everyone for the help, hope to see you soon!

Look at the top of the main page and you will see an icon for U.S. poker sites.

This is solid advice. Only "tip" I have for you, is to stay away from Lock poker. As they have no problems accepting deposits. But when it comes to payouts, it is like pulling teeth trying to get your funds. There are players that have been waiting on a cashout of over a year. (I have one I have been waiting for since April 2013.):(

No matter where you join, whenever you have trouble logging in you'll be left wondering, "Oh no. Are they blocking players from my state/country now?".
From the looks of it the long play for US poker seems to be wsop.com. I believe they are affiliated with Harrahs or some other land-based casino.
If they are available in your state now, I'd consider checking them out for a longer-term option.

In the immediate term, feedback I'm hearing would suggest that Bovada is a solid choice. Some players are also very supportive of American Cardroom and Black Chip Poker. My personal loyalty is to Carbon Poker (Merge Network) which I downloaded from CardsChat years ago. Player traffic there has dropped off and their list of blocked countries and US states is growing but its still one of the rooms that CC runs a freeroll on for now. Check out the CC calendar for Freeroll Club offering for the month.

this is probably a bad time to get into online poker - we are currently experiencing a transition from offshore gambling operators to domestic, taxable entities. If you must play go Bovada but honestly, American poker sites really really suck compared to their European counterparts
pokerstars on a bad day is 100 times better then anything we have available to us
Bovadas software caters the recreational player and it is extremely tilting, carbon is lame imo but some people like it - cashouts are allegedly slow (what a shocker)

in NJ and LV you can cash in/out at the local cage, how cool is that?
