Dear Chris,

First, let me take this opportunity to thank you for helping make PKR such a huge success. Over 20,000 of you have already signed up and downloaded our software since May and we've been overwhelmed by the positive response to the game. We're glad to see that you're enjoying playing PKR as much as we enjoyed building it.

Today marks our real money launch on PKR. While we're very proud of the game we're delivering to our players and excited about giving them the opportunity to play for real money, we're also disappointed to announce that, we can't offer real money play to our US based players at this time.

No doubt you've been following the news that the Senate may vote on a bill that could ban online gaming in the United States. As a result, we've had some tough decisions to make regarding the launch of real money play on PKR in the US. We've concluded that we have no choice but to postpone our launch for real money in the USA while we wait for the Senate's decision. This should take place in October, meaning that we hope to be able to offer you real money play in 6-8 weeks time.

We realize that this news will be as frustrating to many of you as it is for us. Please accept our apologies. This situation is beyond our control and we hope that it will be a temporary one.

Thankfully we also have some very good news for US players on PKR. To thank you for your patience we're ramping up our freeroll program by adding another $25,000 in prizes in the coming weeks. These will be scheduled during times that best suit US players and will allow you to experience PKR at its very best - on us. Please visit the freeroll tournament schedule where you'll find a complete list of tournaments and times, we're sure you'll find one that suits you.

Good luck and see you at the tables,

Malcolm Graham
CEO, PKR

So, I'm being lazy and not checking myself, this is saying that US players can play freerolls but not make deposits an play in real money games? What are their freeroll winnings withdrawl rules? If there are restrictions, can I use freeroll winnings to play at the tables to meet the restrictions?

Haven't even been to the site and CC doesn't have a link for it. Is it PKR.com? What are your thoughts of the site?

Thanks ShortStacked.

Like every other that has no traffic, I'll happily stay away from this POS.

I was one of the Beta testers and I`ve therefore played PKR a lot.

The graphics are streets ahead of the other poker rooms I play, but it will chug unless you have a serious PC. As a rough rule of thumb, if you are using a gaming PC and you can smoothly run large modern games (Civ 4, AoE 3 etc.), you`ll be fine. If your PC hasn`t been upgraded this millenium, forget it.

I reckon PKR shows the way to go and we should support it. Most of us on the forum are hardened card players and don`t really give a damn about how a poker site looks, just so it plays smoothly. But remember, most of the world isn`t like us. The average Joe will be impressed by technical advances and pretty graphics, and it will bring new players into the hobby. That`s why it deserves support.

The American legal issue is a whole other argument and there are other threads on the forum about it, for example:

Think I'll stick to my old haunts for now. I'm always on the lookout for somewhere new to try (if it makes sense), but this just doesn't seem to be worth the hassle.

Thanks for the feedback all.

Just tried PKR last night. Don't think I'll be giving up playing my other sites but it's great fun! Especially if you're a player who only plays one table at a time. Didn't seem to be much real-money action but I understand they only started real money a few days ago.

It wont run on my computer. I've seen my friend playing it on his computer though. It looks prety cool, more like a video game. Egon brings up a good point though, It will probably bring in alot of new players.

Downloaded this game about a week ago, i remember seeing it advertised in a poker magazine back in like january. Forgot about it until last week, downloaded it only to find out it wouldn't work on my computer, wasn't happy lol, watched my brother play it on his computer though, looks like a really good game.

PKR - Unfriendly, unhelpful, dysfunctional

I enjoyed the graphics on PKR and decided to try some real money games; that's
where the trouble began. I tried to pay using my wife's credit card and they wouldn't allow payment because it was in a different name. A bit silly but fair enough I suppose. Next my wife tried to add funds to her own username but then got told that the card was already registered to someone else. No problem, you would think? I just need to remove the card details from my username. THEY REFUSED TO REMOVE THE DETAILS! We will, of course, be contacting visa to see what rules they have on this kind of rogue merchant and I advise people to stay away from what seems to be a dodgy card-collecting outfit running from an island. If my complaint to the management ever gets a reply (I suspect not, they just have a chat-based call centre who know nothing), I will update the story here.

My experience with other poker sites has been that of a friendly, helpful and professional outfit; some even feeling like a genuine family business! PKR is NOT one of those and I get the impression from their attitude that they have no intention of ever being so.

Cudos for using the search function, shasby. However, this thread is a year and a half old.

Is that a problem? I figured it would still show as updated on the lists of threads and jump nearer to the top again or whatever happens.

Lol. The island in question is Jersey, which is part of the United Kingdom.

Surely you created your own problem by trying to use a card not your own. All that you have proved is that their fraud detection systems work. Hardly dodgy imo.
