Has the number of players on Pokerstars been decreasing?

Do you believe that pokerstars has been losing users?

It seems that the micro tournaments that used to attract 4,000 people now only receive 3,000 registrations.

Sunday Storm satellite tournaments for example are sometimes canceled due to lack of registrations.

Do you believe this has been happening or is it just an impression on my part?

Leave your opinion.

This is for cash games:

But all traffic online (except maybe GG Poker and some Asian sites) are going down:

You know, I had the same impression this last few weeks.
For instance, I like to play a 350 player cap turbo at night, only happens once a day and it was like a Daily CardsChat freeroll on PS (RIP), but with double prize and a bit few people. This week, this tournament is getting 45 to 70 players... I've played it so many times last year, even though is a really small tournament, it was never that much lol today's starts in twenty minutes and there is thirteen players registered
Anyway, that can be related to the time of the year or something. I'm kinda new to online poker, so I cant really know, maybe it's just an impression, or maybe people are realizing that this company is really robbing us and Power Path is a thug joke 🤐
hahah I'm kinda pissed off because they cut CC's funding and some of the best rake back challenges... but I'll continue to be a reg player on PS lol

This is a fact.
You don't need to believe here, it's just obvious that PokerStars has been getting worse and worse for years. In my opinion, the future of this project is rather vague and unclear. Obviously, new solutions, new approaches and new management methods are needed, otherwise this project will simply cease to exist.

A while ago the Pokerstars had more than one tournament per day with a guarantee of 4000 thousand with a buyin of 1 dollar and always exceeded this amount. Today it can't fill a tournament for 350 players.
Pokerstars needs to improve a lot how to manage that room.

Well, in my opinion what happens with Pokerstars is that the other rooms are very good nowadays, so the audience ends up being diluted. And PokerStars is known as the home of professional players, which ends up forcing amateurs and recreational players to look for options with a slightly lower level. Because even recreationalists don't like to lose all the time.

For sure it's on the decline, and I'm actually enjoying playing on there now many of the donks are gone. That being said I'm playing NL25 when on a quick spin up to NL200 for my more serious game. I continuously donk money to MTTs as I still don't rarely have the patience lol.

In that case all sites are dying except GG Poker, since PokerStars is the second largest site with a distance, and almost everyone except GG Poker see declining volume. Its possible, it will end up with GG Poker being the only site left, but it does not seem to likely to me. And for sure I dont hope, this is the future of online poker, since a monopoly situation would be really bad for players ;)

Strangely enough Svenska Spel have seen increasing cash game volume lately, whatever the reason for this might be. But in general you are of course right :)

You're right all sites are losing to GG.
It just hurt to see it happen to PS .
I loved that site for a long time but I am highly disappointed in them .
Especially since it became evident that they are tailoring their new reward system towards highrollers only.
The rest gets ridiculous amounts of rakeback..

On monday I can collect 98$ at GG and I only play Micro and lowstakes....

It's no secret...GG is by now the only room which is giving back to their customers, no Matter the stakes.

Or GG Poker are finding new customers in Asia, while other markets are declining. ACR is also losing customers, and americans are not allowed to play on GG Poker, so this can not be the reason.

That is not exactly anything new. 6 years ago the rakeback on PokerStars through the chest system was something like 2%.

I dont play there so cant comment about the rake or rake-back system. Are you sure, you are not paying more rake to begin with? That might be the case for cash games at least.

I feel the On-line Poker boom has finished, there seems to be fewer players on PokerStars, because of Lockdown restrictions have been lifted, and some players are returning to Pub games and Casino games, On-line Poker is very different from a Live tournament or ring games, because it is a social thing, many play weekly or monthly games with Friends just for a get together and a few beer's and Laughs.
Poker is just a catalyst to get the ball rolling, and it doesn't always have to be serious, that's why players introduce rules of their own like forced straddles in the game to make the game more fun. or Deuces wild etc. as long as it is agreed upon by all the players and they are playing for small stakes, where is the harm?
People have been known to walk for miles hitting a tiny ball around trying to get it into a tiny hole, Sure there may be side bets but if you can afford to lose the side bet, it shouldn't be a problem. But these are not Professional Golfers and do not take the game seriously because they are playing for Fun!
There is not much fun staring at a computer screen for hours on end, losing money hand over fist. Especially if you are not interacting with other players by talking to them.

I feel the On-line Poker boom has finished
The online poker boom began 21 years ago, after Chris Moneymaker won the wsop main event in 2003 from a satellite entry. And yes that has since long finished. The nail in the coffin was "Black friday" in the US in 2011, after which poker largely disappeared from mainstream media, and americans could no longer play on any of the largest sites.
there seems to be fewer players on PokerStars, because of Lockdown restrictions have been lifted
Yes the pandemic temporarely reversed the decline in online poker. But when restrictions were lifted, we instantly went back to the long term declining trend.

Of course that's probably the reason!

You guys do realize that there will be a $215 tournament next month on Pokerstars that will be paying out a guaranteed $1 Million to the 1st place finisher... right? There will also be a $5 tournament with $25,000 gtd. prizepool. An $11 MTT with $100k prizepool.
And I think this weekend there will be a $11 mtt with ~15,000 entries in it.

Why dont they just charge 50% less rake in the first place? Rakeback is like feeding the dog with its own tale and basically completely stupid. But of course if you pay less after rakeback, than you would on other sites, then playing on GG Poker is at least cheaper :)

What he's not telling you is >> GG is holding a 'temporary' promotion where (if you opt in) everyone gets 50% rakeback. This will only last til' the end of April. Then if you're not raking a ton you'll drop down to ~20% rakeback.

It definetly is cheaper..
And the field is more soft.
Why should I continue to play where my Roi won't improve much . At GG it does ...

You can all play whereever you want !
However I think advocating for PS is regressive and typical Boomer behaviour who cling to "better times" like @Poker Orifice .

Im picturing you as geriatric grumpy man who is blaming Millenials for every fukin thing 😅🤣🤣🤣

But you could accumulate enough points for becoming platinum Whale and mantain your status for life🤷🏼‍♂️

Absolutely true. So why all this negativity about PokerStars? If you prefer to play on GG Poker, then just play there. But that does not mean, there is anything wrong with PokerStars or for that matter other sites. I dont play on GG Poker, but this does not mean, I feel a need to make negative comments about the site on a daily basis.

Then what is advocating for GG Poker? Childish behaviour from someone, who has yet to grow up? Such comments are honestly just stupid and not usefull to anyone at all.
