Issue with 888poker account

I'm searching someone who know or has a contact to a lawyer who deals with matters related to poker, specifically with the unjustified requisition of money by the pokerrom operator 888poker.

I had an account at 888poker and win a package to 888poker live Barcelona Main Event which took place between 17th-22th May. 2 days after I won a package 888poker decided to block my account without any explanations. I tried to contact them in any way, I send about 20 messages to support, operations team, contact call center, and only answear what I recived 5 days after my request is " decision to discontinue your membership still stands" and still have not got any explenation.

I decide to go to Barcelona and try to solve this situation. At casino I contacted with worker from 888poker and he also told me that I can't play at event, my account is still blocked and probably I will never know why they decided to block my accout...

I would like to sue 888poker for unlawfully terminating my account, holding over $900 in my account and voiding my $2,300 package to 888poker Live Barcelona, and looking for a lawyer who will take up the matter

This is totally insane ! The problem is that I never heard of anyone going against a poker site in a law suit, and less of a poker site robbing a customer like that ! There's definitely something going on between you and them, they can't do such a thing just like that ! Have verified/validated your account with them prior to that winning ?

pokerstars was forced to pay back millions to Austrian players some years ago..
Also another trial for losses of one single person ( also Austrian ) to get paid back 1,6 mio in losses was successful.
The reason is PS never had a licences to offer games in austria.
Still refusing to pay though lol. As soon as it's at the EuGH ( EU court) there's no more to hide for PS
Only thing I'm worried about is that PS may exclude Austria after that as retribution haha

You should win this one as long as you have documentation that you were able to play & win the package in 888 poker.

P.S. By my opinion, 888 is very strange Poker site, and therefore I finished to play at him long time ago!..

Where do you live? The first and easiest option might be to contact the regulatory body in your country, if 888 Poker has a license there. If its an unregulated AKA "grey" market, then a legal case will need to be filed in whichever country, 888 operate from, rather than your own country. And for $3.200 the expenses for such an attempt will likely exceed the amount at stake. So in that situation there is realistically not much, you can do. Other than maybe try to find out, why this happened, and then rigorously follow the TOS on any other sites, you might be playing on

Did a bit of research, and according to your profile you are from Poland, which is a "grey" or unregulated market. According to Wikipedia 888 Poker operate from Gibraltar, so this is, where you will need to find a lawyer and file a case.

I've been hearing a lot of complaints lately about 888 poker, managers have changed there and everything is new because we used to play there now there are fewer and fewer players in this room and everyone complains that 888poker has changed completely hope you find a lawyer who can handle them and take a lot of money from them you can I believe in you

So they owe you what, 900 dollar and a tournament package for a tournament that's gonna be finished by the time you sue them? That lawyer is gonna cost you a lot more....and they know it.

Sorry to hear this happened to you but as some people have said this will cost you more than what they owe so they will probably just laugh at the law suit and say see you in court.

Yes, I verified my account just after I create it. I'm form Poland, but play from brazil, and at the begging everything was good, verification was ok, but the problems started when I won a package

Well so if they accepted the verification and you've not been using any VPNs & stuff then this is kinda strange and siounds like a poor steal of money. However going with the lawsuit with such a player imho got close to 0% of succedding, sadly. In your place honestly i would just try to get my account back by spamming them and just forget about that EPT. Does not really change anything though, since Brazil is also an unregulated market. So nobody there are going to help you with this situation, which mean, any legal battle has to take place in Gibraltar. Quite a trip by the way to make all the way from brasil to Spain just to clarify, that you could not play in a $2.300 live event....

If you live in Brazil, try contact with Alexandre Mantovani ''cavalito'' in the instagram... BTW 888 is a trash site and is very common seeing this things happen

Probably not "illegal" in the strict meaning of the word, but perhaps not operating there? For your information I regularly see players from Poland on PokerStars, så that is apparently an option, should you decide to move back to Poland at some point.

Ok. It is not totally unusual, that poker sites take a second and maybe closer look, when someone has a large win and/or want to withdraw a large amount. And if for instance they think, you were using a VPN to hide your location and not playing from Brasil but somewhere else, then this is a violation of the TOS, regardless if they have originally verified your account. Even if you reside in Brasil, you are still not allowed to play during a visit to countries, where they dont operate, or operate under a local license. This has caused problem for players before, and sometimes for much more than 3.200$
