In preparation for the royal vegas poker forum Challenge, be advised that the game program WILL NOT operate properly if you are missing some key software components. I downloaded the Royal Vegas Poker client directly from their site, opened an account, and attempted to play a $5 sng. I found out too late that I couldn't place a bet!! When it came my turn to act, I had no command options on-screen from which to select. Their support responded to my email a few hours later, and I made the necessary corrections, but it cost me five bucks in the process.
Here's what you need to check for before you sit down to play Royal Vegas:
JAVA
If you are not running the Java2 platform on your computer, go to www.java.com.
On right hand side under "Get the latest in Java technology", click Java software download.
Click begin download.
When the window appears, click save.
Run application to install.
CRITICAL: After installing the new version, or if you already have it and don't need to download, run the following check to see if your Java applet is okay:
Click start.
Click run.
Type in "regsvr32 msjava.dll"
Message must come back successful. If it does not, remove the faulty Java program and reinstall.
ACTIVE X CONTROL PAD
Access www.activex.com
This will redirect you to "www.download.com".
Middle column "Most Popular Downloads".
Click "Active X Control Pad".
Click download now.
When the window appears, click save.
Run application to install.
When the Royal Vegas software is running properly, you will have pre-action boxes below the bet slide which you can click on in advance of your turn. When you turn arrives, those boxes will disappear, and your options will appear IN THE CENTER OF THE TABLE, not below the bet slide. If those options don't come up when it's your turn, you have the same Java and/or Active X problem I had. Hope this helps to save you some time, aggravation, and possible lost funds.
Also, Royal Vegas is currently hooking up new members with $10 in bonus money which can be used to buy into real money ring games and tourneys.
