There really is no "secret". I played these when they first came out and it is really Bingo poker. The blinds are so high compared to the starting stack (698 chips starting at 40/80 for the lowest level) that you are in a push/fold spot from the very beginning. That is why there are not very many people ever in the higher levels.

Most of the people share the same thoughts as me. I have won my way up to the 4th level a few times and cashed out because there were no players at that level to keep advancing. But, I took a lot of bad beats to get there. I adopted the push/fold strategy and then if I doubled up twice, I would look then look to play regular pots with other players. Also, when I would get close to the required chips and it was cheap to just buy my way to the next level, then I would do it. I makes a lot of sense to spend .25 plus an additional .35 cents for a total of .60 to buy a $1.50 ticket. You are still getting a big discount plus, you don't have to worry about the nesty suckouts that are common on ACR.

It does not seem that a ticket at 1.50 will cost you 0.25 + 0.35. In reality, it may even be more expensive than the face value.
