Yea I also agree that the 2500 player freerolls are much better than 7500. But again it is FT that is offering them, what can you do? It's free money, they can do whatever they want.

That's why I'm thankful for all the other freerolls out there. You don't have to stick to the 7500 player ones. In those the best I've yet to do is place 105th. I think I can make it if I'm diligent enough : ]

True... I wrote this when i was very annoyed after 4 hours of play... FT can do what they want, even though I think if they went back to 100 dollar tournaments instead of 150 with less players it would be better...

I think you mean the 10,000 person round 1 freeroll.

mmm really i wouldnt be so annoyed except it used to be so easy to cash in these things, i mean for the turbos you needed a decent stack at about 50K to 60K, the regulars you needed about only 40K-30K. Now for the turbos you arent safe unless you have over 200K, otherwise the blinds can rip you apart. I used to play the freerolls without caring if i lost the money i made cuz i had the time, i could just come back and beat another one if i wanted more money. The minimum won used to be 2 dollars too... now the minimum is .80 cents... what can you do with .80 cents? .10 cent tourneys with no rebuys and you have enough for two DD sitngos... gah im sick of complaining about this, we just have to deal with the fact that full tilt has changed the freerolls and try to adapt i guess... must not play to cash, play to win!!! >.< lol.

i hope that ftp can improve the poor to $250,and the max player change to 2700,i think that is btter, not percent 1 was paid attract so many donk to play,if ftp change the freeroll MTT,i thnk that donkey will decrease.

lol I made this post awhile ago, I dont bother with FT freerolls anymore barring CC private freeroll... they're simply not worth the time and effort. Playing the CC private freeroll has a much better return on time investment than the regular freerolls, even though CC freerolls are twice a week and FT freerolls are every day... thats kind of sad, but thats the reason the CC freerolls are so awesome.

I have managed to cash only once at a 7500 freeroll. Ended up in 5th place, it was a combination of some good moves and some luck. But I agree with everything that has been said, free-rolls are somewhat a waste of time, a donkfest, etc.

Even saying all that, I play them everyday, it's poker, you'll find some good players from now and then, you'll find donks who catch their card on the river, a free-roll has it all..

When they first came out it seemed like a good idea more money, more donks... what I didn't consider was the chip counts and the time involved increasing. Even though the amount of paid positions went up from 27 to 45, since the number of players went up to 7500 not even 1 percent are cashing. Still didnt seem that bad...

But honestly after fighting my way through most of the field, I was eliminated in 140th place when an opponent caught two pair to beat my pocket 9s. Playing the freeroll I reassessed my opinion, more donks are always better, but honestly the chip counts become insanely high, and if and when you're short stacked its almost impossible to steal because these idiots will called you down risking almost all of their stacks on stuff like QJ, it was a tiring experience to say the least, the freeroll didnt even cash for another two hours meaning I wasn't even close to done.

Well... I'm done ranting and I'm wondering who else has tried their luck on these festivals of donkitude? Anyone have better luck?
I cashed once like 2 dollars, second or third time i played.
But i do not play them anymore. Too much time to loose and too much stress. There are a lot of sites with freerolls with 100 persons to 2000 max with the same payout like Ipoker network, Carbon, Cake poker, etc etc.
pokerstars and Ful Tilt non-restricted freerolls are a waste of time i think. But the regional or restricted ones on PS or FT are great cose there are 10 times less ppl involved.
CC freerolls are great too even though someone always has luck and kick me out near the bubble or at the final table with less money possible:D But it is different from others freerolls cose i never took a brutal bad beat. Not even once on CC freerolls.

Anyway i do not think they are a waste of time cose there are so many donks but because i loose too much time playing them for a couple of dollars.
But if u think that u will play a 7500 persons freeroll and do a better job without donks u have to be a little stupid .
CC freerolls have 50-130 persons max and u sweet like a pig for every hand u play because there are less donks and untill the first break maximum 10% of the ppl are out. U make a mistake and u are out. 7500 good players will be like hell ,the cashout impossible and the freeroll will take a week.

Round one is the easyest satellite ever.
U can qualify playing 2-3 of them.
But i think it is a waste of time cose the final is hard like hell. A lot of good players. It is not hard to qualify but as i said when there are thousands of average or good players, cashing out is hard like hell.

It is not like that.

This freerolls are mostly for beginners. They see it on TV and they take a shot
When i first made an account on FT i saw he freerolls and start playing.

I did not knew about free bonuses, how to play, where to play. I was just happy to play poker.
After 2-3 mounths i started to understand how it works, read a book or two and going a little deeper in the tourney.
Now i have like 8 mounths since i start playing. I am not a great player , but i know the basics and i have some experience to get around the obvious traps. I have 10-50 dollars on almost all sites there are and i w8 for the moment when i will go up a little more. If someone imagine that if they play bigger stacks ppl will let them win they are wrong. Bigger stacks , bigger sharks. Life at 5/10 or 2.4 SnG buy-in is a hell. I lost my entire bankroll there three, four times. Good players = hard play.

There are thousands of new players signing up every day on poker sites and 5% of them slowly but surely start learning something from freerolls.
Everyone thinks that if will not be donks on freerolls they will cahsh out. They are mistaken for sure. They will not even have the chance to double up untill the first break. Donks make it possible to cash out on freerolls.

Salim271, I agree with you about the donk fest freerolls on full tilt. I stopped playing them. You sit for hours and hours to make it in the money (if your lucky) and when you get there you only it's for peanuts. I'd rather play a private freeroll because you have a much better chance of getting to the pay line without the conjestion.

They are only a donkfest untilll there is around 200 ppl remaining, I made a post on a strategy if you don't want to play the tourny for 6-8hours, it will cut the amount of time you play down to 1h-2.5hours. I was just looking for the thread i posted it on, but cant find it lol, i think it was called tournament help or somethin but i dunno

I play them all the time. Free rolls. That's what I do. I may go back to money tournies again someday but I am in no hurry. I hate gambling. If I was in a casino, I would have no desire to play so much as a slot machine. It's Texas Holdem that I like and it's the random nature of the cards which is my least favorite aspect of the game. I routinely go deep into those 7500's. I have finished in the top 250 more times than I have played the next round. Usually don't show up for the next one - don't like the time it's played. Hard to win real money in a free roll but I've done it a number of times - all small ball. The only decent sites for free rolls if you are a US player are FT, and bodog - that's it!

Totally not worth the time it takes to win 50 cents or something small because it will take about 8 hrs min. I cashed in a pot limit rush omaha freeroll, 7500 players, and only got $2.25 from 10 30 p.m. to 5 45 a.m.
Good luck to those who play them!

I don't even do those for practice, it's just impossible to get past the all-in every hand donks until the blinds kill you. I probably tried 2 of them, said never again. Seriously, they are even worse than the $150 freerolls.

Then if you qualify for Round 2 (they enter you automatically), you might not be able to play. At least poker stars 1) gives you a ticket to be used any Saturday or Sunday forever 2) Sunday they offer games other than NLHE 3) $2k.

Carbon is much better than FT. They are $200 now, and there are lots of them, some just an hour apart. Only gripe I have is the pay out just 10 spots. I didn't complain though when I got $60 for 1st in PLO. :D

Trust me, it's a lot easier to rustle up $20 to deposit in your account that to try to win it in a freeroll. Offer to mow someone's lawn. Pick up tin cans. Shoot, pretend to be homeless and ask for handouts at an intersection.

Freerolls can be fun in their own way, and they are poker. They are more fun than playing for play chips because there is something at stake (somewhere in there).

But trying to make money from freerolls? Might as well be trying to paint your house with a toothbrush.

It's just not worth the time.
But not just freerolls...
I won't bother entering the daily dollar too unless I'm broke.
Donks are everywhere, poker is getting and will get more famous so more donks will come.

The $0,10 tournament on FTP is even better than this freeroll! After getting in the Weekly $1000 you have to face with 15000 players.

The payout is laughable. Eventually you realize this and find easier ways to make some money. I just troll from poker room to poker room looking for the freerolls for that day. If there is one I am not familiar with and the payouts look good compared to the 7500 entrant you were talking about, I then do the effort it takes to get invited to those newly discovered freerolls that pay many times over better.

I think that most people that play these don't actually try their best. They just join and they don't play like they want to win, they play like they just want to have fun. And that fun is making bad moves and going all in with crappy hands. That's what I don't play these tournaments too often. Sometimes I play them when I am bored but that's about it. They are useless IMO.

The freerolls were better with 2700, and the fields are too big now and the weekly freeroll has too many people. I dont play freerolls anyways but i suggest depositing and getting in the action!
