duplicate cards on small sites

I've played freerolls on startup sites where I've found that duplicate cards sometimes come up. On one site--and I'm sorry, I can't for the life of me remember the name--I folded 6d8c and the flop was 4d8cTh. I'm not trying to slag any site or online poker in general; my conclusion was that the site software is defective and that I should simply stop playing that site, which I did. But just now I read the two old threads on rigged poker sites and thought I should start a new discussion. Someone in the "pokerstars is rigged" thread stated s/he used to be a programmer and that writing a subroutine to avoiding duplicate cards is something a 12-year-old could do. I'm just wondering why that wasn't done in the case of the site I'm talking about. (I wish to heck I could remember which one.)

Well, until you come up with legitimate screenshots, I can't say you will find many on this forum that actually believe you. And the very, very few that do believe you are all the same "poker's rigged" bandwagon crew anyway. Happy ghost hunting.

P.S. - We don't really need another one of these threads, but I'll leave it open for now. If it goes overboard in any which way, I'll close it. Enjoy.

I read somewhere, I will have to try to find it again, that there are two types of card generators. Ones that exclude folded hole cards and those that will put them back in the deck and can appear in the community cards. It will allow for more outs since some of your flush and striaght cards that may have been folded could still appear.

I know most credible sites now run the exclusion ones, like a real live game. I think the inclusion programs were just used early on in some site.

Whow, lol. Great ceasars ghost! Can you imagine folding Ace Duece and then seeing the same folded ace show up on the flop? Anyone in their right mind would drop that site like a box of dead rats. Actually, kinda sounds like poker stars to me.

Please explain to me what you mean by "another one of these threads." I do not take an Us vs. Them attitude toward other people who describe a legitimate poker experience. I also thought my message made it clear that I am *not* making the same tired accusation that poker sites are "rigged." If there is no room on Cardschat for an honest comment and question like mine just because I'm not toeing the party line, then I'll be happy to leave. I am asking Cardschat management to comment here. Silence by Cardschat management will also be interpreted as an invitation for me to leave.

That is absolutely hilarious. Truly funny. Management you better have a legitimate explanation :D .

I'm just giving you a hard time eternitas, no need to be so sensitive. I can vouge that all opinions are allowed here. If you have seen some of the 'online poker is rigged' banter, you would know why JD makes his comment.

I was dealt five royal flushes in a row and stacked everyone at the $200NL table each time. It was totally awesome. Oh, can't seem to find the HHs in PT and the name of the site slips my mind at the moment. but it really did happen, I swear.

Sounds a bit odd though, doesn't it.

I thought my first post was pretty clear, but I guess not. The simple point was that if you are going to make a claim like the one you did, you need to post proof or you simply get lumped in with all of the other poker is rigged posters. Plain and simple. We even had someone post a photoshopped screenshot of PS showing five aces. Didn't happen, never happened. Someone forged that screenshot. Hence my comment about a legitimate screenshot.

Does that clear it up for you?

Gee - when I saw the title I thought it meant same cards at several sites

Have you ever been playing two different sites and if you combined hand from site A with the board on site B you had the nuts?? Or both boards have the same flop just different suits and in a different order

Hmmm.... wonder what that means?? NOTHING The conspiracy and poker is rigged threads are great.... nothing like a big laugh to start my day

yea that happens to me all the time! I laugh so hard, I say I know what will come on the flop lol and then when I get the same exact hand on 2 sites I play it and usually win, funny as hell.

This thread is hilarious its never happened to me but yea id drop that site from my computer asap. I would also like to hear CC's management comments on this for the forum newsletter we are putting out.
:deal: Thats the only thing I ever get from management about the newsletter, id like to see a smiling comment on this event :icon_sant

Well, I think it's certainly easy enough to make sure your program doesn't allow duplicate cards. It should generate the full series of the deck before the hand is dealt, much like a real deck as opposed to generating a new card each time a new card is required. If the program doesn't eliminate the cards already dealt and re-generates each time a card is required, then it could allow duplicates from folded hands.

That should be beta-tested out, but on a small new site, who knows.

But, eternitus, every month or so someone new starts a "poker is rigged" thread here. That's why your thread generated a lot of negative responses.

People seem to have some funny idea that I am accusing a small site somewhere of running a rigged game--or, no, that I am accusing *all* poker sites of running a rigged game. I consider that a knee-jerk Us vs. Them reaction. It's as if those people are *taking sides* with the poker sites when no sides need to be taken. This kind of defensiveness makes me extremely suspicious of the people who use this forum. So I will be leaving now.

Don't worry about these jerks ;) if you've been looking around the forum you'll see a few people that "know the truth" about "rigged" sites have got them in a foul mood.

To answer your original question I don't think anyone thats not affiliated with the site could tell you why they use crappy old versions of RNG's. Probably cheapest or one of their programmers developed it or whatever.

You did what you could, leave the site, so I wouldn't worry about it. None of the bigger name sites have that problem so it's probably best to stick with them.

The responses in this thread are nothing compared to the responses you'd have received at certain other 'major' forums (where you would have been flamed immediately). You weren't flamed here at all. It would seem, though, that your idea of open discussion is you state your point (without posting any sort of evidence at all and not even being able to remember the name of the site, etc) and we join in the flogging (that you say you aren't doing yet felt compelled to start a new discussion "after reading two other poker is rigged threads") . But the very moment someone suggests you should post evidence of some sort, they are taking sides in a knee jerk reaction? How is that a discussion?

Sadly, the obv mock post about five consecutive royal flushes is just as credible as the OP is (since neither gave anything but a bunch of words without any support of any sort). So instead of having a tantrum about not liking the responses you've received, why not reply with additional information to support your case?
