Can you blame them? If online poker was shut down then they would get more people coming into the place because they couldn't play online. Sure, not a very large portion of the online poker community would go straight to the casinos, but more than are there right now I bet.

Not that many more. From a traffic standpoint the Commerce is located in a bad (to get to) part of LA. For the money folk in LA Hollywood Park would be the better drive. But the Commerce will always fill, unless online players decide they don't want to support any B&M casino that has shown to be against online poker.

I like that the article was hot off the press. It would serve the Commerce, Bicycle, Hollywood Park and any other Casino well if they were to provide specifics as to why they oppose the current proposed legislation. There was some fuzzy notion about them wanting onshore houses, which would mean more poker related jobs, but it was just too fuzzy.

There have been several bills submitted in California, and other states that would set up a statewide online poker network controlled by, licensed by, and profited by the state. Haven't seen one worth the ink that was used to print it.
