When you step into poker apps, it can be confusing to know which room to join and where you belong. Most of the time, we go in expecting to lose a bit of money, but the question is where. I've been there too, and I realized that at the start, I overlooked the free game options that many websites offer. Not all poker rooms have these free areas, though, so it's important to explore and practice with play money before you start playing with real cash. This gives you a chance to understand the environment, make any necessary changes to settings, and get comfortable with your betting style. So, my advice is to take some time to practice without risking money until you feel confident about your approach.
I couldn't agree more, I started playing on
pokerstars for play money chips, and would lose almost every day. Luckily they would give you 2,000 chips to get you started and re-stack you for free, every time you went broke.
After watching a few videos on how the Pro's play I learned that it is not possible to see the flop every time and needed to be more selective in which hands to play, then making a few simple rules for myself, I began to win and built up a Play Money Bankroll of over 600, 000.
Rule number 1. if you don't have to pay, You don't have to Play.
Meaning if you are not already in the pot, and have not posted a blind, there is nothing forcing you to play that hand, then Fold it.
Rule number 2. If it's worth Playing, It's worth raising.
Meaning if you get a monster hand, make the best use of it and Raise, Put your opponent on the back foot and let them worry about what cards you have.
I have many more personal rules that have helped me build a real money bankroll on several different sites, but I don't want to give all my secrets away
