free chips with no risk .....whats the problem ?
is it that you cant 10 times your chips in first 5 minutes......
or is it that you bust out before someone that isn't even there ?

anyone that dislikes players sitting out of a tourny doesn't understand tournament play

play in a REAL MONEY tournament ....and see how many sit-outs there are.....not too many........

because it's a DISATVANTAGE to sit out during a tourny....and every sit-out at your table INCREASES your advantage

(in freeroll donkfests I often sit out for the first 30 minutes or so just to let most of the bingo morons punch themselves out)

Wow, sorry but I don't like free chips at ALL, it's a very bad way of getting them, I play poker because I like it and PLAYING against PLAYERs, if I wanted free chips I'd play against my dog haha.

I don't bust out, and if I do, that's that, it's just the principle of the 'Tournament' and the play it should entail, donks are donks and that's fine, agressive players are fine, but someone not there isn't. Imagine playing a live game -- 100 people buy in and you're sat at a table with no one there, who the hell are you playing? No one. But of course that's not ok in live play. Because you're getting 'free chips'. The tables would be well balanced.I've played live plenty and the only sitting I see is in rebuys.
People are NOT sitting, they are NOT there. There's a BIG difference.

FT isnt the only one.

Doyles room does a $300 tournie in the evening, and it can have 3000 registered.

One night I played right the way up to blinds of 150/300 before I had anyone to play against. I just raised and the computer automatically folded everyone.

I ended up winning something like $12 having hardly come up against any opposition..

Boring as hell, but a good way to build up a bankroll if you've got the patience..

yeh lol same thing happened to me in the quickdraw tournament that happens every night at 10 pm....

So true, although I sometimes am one of those people. For the Belgium Freeroll for example I always register, but sometimes I get called up by a friend to have some fun and I forget to unregister.. I know it's a drag.
You say it takes 15 minutes to gain 12K with people sitting out, but in reality it takes up a lot more time (or so it seems).
I hate it as well.

A 15-20 minutes "Get your ass here" would be perfect I think.

The problem with the situation under discussion, is that the poker sites don't give a crap whether you show up or not for a freeroll, the only sites I know that dump sitters at the 1st blind increase are Absolute and UB, all poker sites could adopt this method but they don't, because they don't give a hoot. They hooked 3000 ppl to play a $100 freeroll and pay gawd know how many places a few cents. Why do they give cents as a prize when you can have a balance of eg. $1000.99c, you cannot withdraw the 99c so you'll take your $1000 and leave the 99c behind cause it's too low to buy in at most sites. OK so PS offers 10c tournies, gl all.

I actually put my change into those .10 games on FT. It's the only thing you can do with chump change. But yea, hopefully they'll give a hoot:(

Uh lol....first place finish doesn't finish with as much?

That ain't right, is it. The first 10-15 minutes you get to steal as much as possible, but then the whole amount that's left disappears. That way you'll create a whole askew game don't you think?

I'm not sure if Full Tilt ever will, or if anyone agrees on this, but I think there should be a time limit when people register for a game and don't come back. Most of the games can be registered for in advanced, so a lot of the time I see about 200 PLUS players not even playing, this sucks for many reasons;

One, players might be sat at a table where they are the ONLY one playing, I've had this happen a lot. Most people like it, you can get 12k chips in like 10mins, but I don't. I come to play, win or lose.

Two, it slows down the whole process of the game, eventually they get widdled out by blinds, but still.

Three, I understand everyone should have their chance at the game, but if you're not there for it, you're not. I don't think anyone likes going heads up immediately either when you're NOT at final table haha.

I think there should be a 10min 'GET YOUR ASS TO YOUR COMP':pcguru: wait, then somehow pull the players who are not there and aren't going to be.

I don't know, maybe I'm just ranting. Anyone else agree? Or think there's a reason 200plus players who are not there...need to be there?:)

I don't think that it will ever change because every poker room, that respects it's potential customers(us),is obliged to give extra time to someone that just might be late and sooner or later might become connected

Another reason that i don't want that to change is that if it happens that you may sit in a table where everyone's missing(It occured to me on different occasions ) then there's the unique possibility that you pile up their stacks by just raising....So long live the "not connected" sign and all the ones that miss the tourneys:D

The other thing, I forgot to mention, with sitting out is, that I do it myself. Because the first 40 minutes to an hour are really dangerous to play. All the All-in junkies, the n00bs, they reck my game! So Sometimes (not always, I'm bored sometimes so I play from the start on) it's good to sit the first 40 minutes out. It has proven to work! Trust me.

a lot of sites still do not remove sit outs but there are the sites that do and it makes for a better game. The one thing i can say for them atleast they fold the all in hand

With the requirements that CC has now it is not as bad. There are fewer sitouts and the play is much better. There aren't that many donks in the freerolls anymore. In a way I like the sitous, it gives you a chance to gain free chips build a stack for the prizes. I think it is better not to look a gift horse in the mouth. Take the extra chips and run with them and make a good showing. :D

I respect Absolute because they will boot...That happened to me on Doyle's Room, only 2 of us showed up and the other went all-in every hand. I emailed Doyle's Room and asked about getting rid of sitters after a certain period of time. I came to play a tourney and not heads up, they never responded.

That's also very annoying ha. I really don't get it. Why not just make the game start 5mins later? Haha, late registration is pretty stupid in my opinion. :)

Thats funny, I was just saying that in my head the other day. I was doing a playchip heads up tournament on full tilt with about 900 people in it and you couldn't go to the next round until all tables were complete. Problem was on multiple tables, idiots both clicked sit out and we had to wait until the blinds reached them enough until there was a winner. On like the first three rounds. It took 45 minutes every time. I was pissed and just quit. I said why dont they just disqulify them after like 15 folded hands or so.

I dunno, sometimes it works out to my advantage in the non-turbo freerolls. If I have to leave to go do something, I can come back in two hours and still be blinded out only 10 percent of my stack. There's been times when I came back to my computer shortstacked only to come back and placed high, won, or in the money.

Why would they change it? If someone registers (pays or doesnt pay) they have that seat. Its a benefit to have someone there with free chips not playing. Of course this happens mostly in freerolls, I cant imagine anyone complaining if people didnt show up to a non-freeroll tournament.

This debate can on forever and sadly I don't think FT will ever change this:(. Many think it's a good thing, some agree with me that it's lame. Grrrrr.
