Were you genating a lot of rake/tournament fees ? They may have decided to overlook this, if you were. I mostly play freerolls, so don't generate much rake/fees.
No, I was a freeloader as well. I made a couple of deposits at some point but they were small and I withdrew more than I deposited. I don't think they care very much about how you get into their petty freerolls.

The last time I've played this tournament was 2 weeks ago and the minimum I've found was $0.20 per spin. I don't remember how many players were, but was more than 1000. I don't think it's worth it, but mostly because of the time of the tournament (too soon here in my country), maybe if it was another time. I prefer their deposit freerolls, which is very similar.
I think the lowest you can bet is 10 cents (you can find that in some roulette games) and no, not really worth it in the end unless you just happen to be playing a bunch of games at the same time. I think 1000-2000 players come out and, if I recall, you get casino bonuses (I may be wrong).
