I think max 3 rebuys are ok for the first 10-12 levels.

OMG I HATE REBUY TOURNAMENTS!!!! The problem with rebuy tournaments is the buyin has to be more than a couple dollars or youll find yourself playing lottery poker for the entire rebuy period...I hate it with so much passion...Ild rather just play freerolls if that's the kind of poker were going for..JMO

im superstitious that once i get outsted from a mtt, it just feels like the game is marked now so buying in again seems wrong. Also after a few buyins, you must get top 5 to get back to even

I think it's fine and shouldn't affect your game what so ever. Especially early in tournaments who cares if people can re enter 100 bb's deep. If they are just shipping 100 bb's all the time than wait and pick off some of those bullets. But the games aren't that crazy that unlimited re entry means that much. Why would you want to 8 bullet and have to final table to get even?

I think it’s great. Increases the prize pools and loosens players up early so you can build a stack.

I think the length of late registrations and rebuys should be a bit more limited. I don't mind an hour or two in live poker, but a tourney I entered into had 5 hours of late registration and rebuys, which I thought was nuts. Then again, I did see a guy re-enter 4 times and lose all 4 times. One one hand, it builds the pot using the fish... but decent rich players could treat it like a freeroll, too, and shove until they double or triple up.

I heard about the guy who re-bought 7x and ended up winning... funny thing is, he had to win the tourney just to make a profit.

Hi

Well that is a pros and cons game.

Depending on which side of the fence you are.

You have hit up a good stack, you will say keep it coming and if you are not so lucky you say oh! Why rebuys are allowed.

Basically its an individuals choice, personally I prefer no rebuys no add ons etc... just enter the tournament, play your thing and move on...

Thanks:)

I personally would like to return to the days of FREEZEOUTS and REBUYS ! I feel like the overall health of the MTT world was much better from 2000-2009 with just these formats. I never liked the 4 re-entry tournies that FTP started and that the rest of the industry has ran with.

Tournaments are supposed to be about an equal playing field for everyone. Re-entry and 3 hours of late reg has changed MTTs a lot and it is not for the better ...

No problem

No problem about it .... there several types of tournments, and if you don´t like it, you can go to the freezeouts for instance. Key is to understand each type and the dynamics of each one.

Unlimited re-entry is the ugly part of poker for me. I see it just like additional incomes for rooms.

Honestly strongly against tournaments with rebuys for a couple reasons. I think you should have one shot at a tournament as that actually tests your true ability to make decisions and play the game vs just busting and rebuying multiple times as there isn’t much skill in that. Second, the tournaments take much longer.

Unlimited Rebuys

It is bad, and it destroys the integrity of the game. It is good for the casino hosting because they get a little extra rake, but if you got unlimited rebuys eventually you just keep buying in when you go bust, until you catch a lucky flop holding that 45s against the AA.

I don't even play those tournaments with unlimited rebuys, perhaps if they have it until a reasonable cut off time, like when you get the third level of blinds or something.

I much prefer a freeze out or 1 or 2 rebuys and your done.

What is your opinion on unlimited re-entry poker tournaments?

Do Unlimited Re-Entry Tournaments Help or Hurt Poker?

Well there are a few answers and the most obvious one is that, for the casino, yes, extremely beneficial as they make more money. As for players then it depends on who you ask really, if someone is on a tight budget and they bust a $50 buy in tourney then they might not rebuy and someone who is only playing .5% of their bankroll can rebuy comfortably ten times if they wanted to. In my opinion I don't agree with rebuys as they just give unfair second chances for those who are willing to pay. Money talks.

I don't like re-buy tournaments online since you can generally rebuy at any time to increase your stack. Facing a 2 to 3 * my stack super loose player early is not a lot of fun.

I'm OK with re-entry tournaments because if I bust out early I can start again without waiting for another tournament in my buy-in range on the schedule.

I don't like having to face the same players after they bust out early, though.

I don't mind tournaments that have a sensible re-entry structure, such as those that put a limit on the number of times you can re-enter. I think 5 max is a good cap.

My problem with unlimited re-entries is that I really believe it takes advantage of problem gamblers. By that I mean those players who have no idea of bank roll management and have a serious gambling problem.

Those players are not helped at all by that type of format and you often find that to break even you need to finish in the top 20 at the very least depending on the prize structure.

I limit myself to 3 rebuys and asses if the add on is worth it depending on my chips stack and how profitable it will be to take it.

Unlimited good for the House, unless..

Unlimited rebuys benefit the house, able to double up the entry fee, at the least. Question for the CC crowd: are there any tourneys where the rebuy fees are dedicated towards the winners, ITM, ie, grow the payout, where not all rebuys go to the house.?

Rebuys, have to know you are in a bizarro world, some auto-shove, because they know ahead of time that they will do at least one add-on and/or rebuy.
The time and patience required make me steer clear of unlimited rebuys, unless its a ticket to a tourney; or a step towards a satellite.

Unlimited reentrees

I don’t support unlimited entries. To me it becomes a question of how many times do you have to beat a player to win a tournament. There should be some reasonable number?

Unlimited rebuys turn a tournament into a cash game. Rebuys should be capped at the first or second break in a tournament.
