According to Accuweather:

"June 4, 12:04 p.m.

Las Vegas casinos have reopened for the first time in 78 days. At 12:01am on Thursday, crowds started to file in to casinos for the first time in months. The casinos that have opened, or are planning to, must follow a new set of health protocols which involve: at the door temperature checks, increase use of plexiglass, masks, and social distancing. People who record a temperature of over 100.4 at the door will not be permitted into casinos if they record the temperature after a 15-minute cool-down, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Casinos must only operate at 50 percent capacity and slot machines are being used on an every-other basis to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The reopening of casinos is occurring on a dangerously hot day in the city. A high of 108 is expected Thursday in Las Vegas, according to the latest AccuWeather forecast -- 14 degrees above normal for this time of year. Plus, the AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperature is expected to reach a blistering 111 F."

I hope that players come back. Have they announced what needs to happen to increase occupancy past 50%?

Vegas

Glad to see they are reopening even if on a limited player basis. I am sure everyone in Vegas is thrilled as gambling is many of their lively hoods.

Watched the news an the opening was better then expected. Hopefully this will as well spin off and increase air traffic, and the entire hospitality industry there.

VIVA LAS VEGAS :)))))))))

It's good news. people will be able to go back to work and earn money to support their families. I always hope that one day I can travel to Las Vegas but I hope that day. the coronavirus will have completely disappeared from the face of the earth.

Way to go Vegas! Here in Nova Scotia we have VLTs in the bars (and casinos too) and even though restaurants and bars open today, no gambling yet. Hopefully soon!

I hope it's worth it.

I still sit at home and go outside only if it's very much needed, because the statistics in our country are not happy.

We will see how serious this virus is now that the shut down has been lifted. Praying for the best possible outcome. Keep using common sense if you do go out, especially to a busy place like a casino .

If a person is destined to get sick, the virus will find him wherever he hides and no matter how many masks he puts on his face.

But can a quarantine stop human excitement? Welcome back to the casino!:)

Common sense tells me to stay away from a busy place like a casino :)

I agree with you 100%. Rather stay home and be safe than be sorry or regret my actions. I’m in Ct and we have Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun that just reopened this week to thousands. They won’t see me anytime soon.

I have seen the video of casinos pretty busy, Im not sure of the safety protocols in place. Here the case numbers are very low, and today the bars opened VLTs to play. They are running at 50% (every other machine) and they are wiped down after every use. We shall see how it plays out, but it sure was nice having a rum n coke and playing some wildlife!

The casino in Las Vegas is insanely fascinating and a very gambling thing, who has ever been there knows.

It is a good decision as long as they comply with security regulations because it is a city where their main main income is casinos.

Las Vegas is one of my favorite places to go for a visit and to party and I'm glad to see that it is reopening. However, even at 50 percent capacity people in Las Vegas will still be in the midst of crowds. I had to cancel a Las Vegas trip before the pandemic hit and as much as I am ready to go back I don't think that I'll be going there anytime soon....:(

I would rather die fighting covid-19 than to live hiding in quarantine.

I admire your courage and enthusiasm, your logic not that much.
Volunteering at a hospital or COVID testing center would help fighting COVID-19. On the other hand, by playing poker in an enclosed space like a casino you would only be helping COVID spread even more.
So in all fairness, your statement should actually read like that:
"I would rather die helping covid-19 that to live hiding in quarantine" ;)

Opening

I'm kinda torn on this news. On the one hand, it seems great that the workers can get back to their jobs but on the other hand, I see no way how they could control the spread of the virus with all the traffic and out of towners. I wish them luck and safety though.

Have a couple of brothers living in KC Missouri, they have started relaxing restrictions, in restaurant dining with reservations, casinos reopening. Last weekend one of the brothers & his wife made reservations at a favorite eatery, went out had a good meal & a good time. They decided to stop in a one of the local casinos & see how things were going there. According to their report, way to many folks for any social distancing & bro said he made a couple trips to the men's room & from his casual observations, he may have been the only patron to avail himself of the sink, water, hand cleaner, disposal towels after making a pit stop. Short discussion after 2nd trip to the restroom & he & wife elected to exit stage left. Don't believe they have any plans to return soon.

P.S. Nick, yes we will be sitting down with my brother at the first opportunity to discuss why he is hanging out in casino restrooms. :)

I just think that people need to quite living in fear and go on about their business and get back to living a normal life. I believe this whole covid-19 thing was blown way out of proportion. I do not trust the governments data and statistics on number of deaths and infected people. If you are elderly or have health problems of course you should err on the side of caution and protect yourself. I just think that the government is using covid-19 as a distraction (like in a magic trick) to overt our attention away from something that they do not want us to be paying attention to.

Will live poker now return in full force? Or we will have to wait for the coronavirus's goodwill.

This is great news for all gaming people. Especially those who works in hotels and casinos whose life are affected by the pandemic.
Be it as it may, evrybody should still be careful and not be over confident that everything is back to normal.
Unless a vaccine is discovered, everyone should remain cautious and practice good hygeine and always keep your hands clean.
