People in the US have been playing online poker for years before Black Friday. Now, the government want to crack down on online poker, because they want some of the money their selfish and greedy.

They are selfish and greedy and its ridiculous, If this wasn't bad enough they seem to be morons as well.. We give them money for them to waste it like a rich kid with a trust fund..

Honestly if we gave the US government less money we'd probably be better off because they would HAVE to spend the money wisely and not just go OOPS oh well it's infinite..

It's like a millionaire at the $2nl tables who gives a crap if I get stacked.. Now take some one with the same exact skill set with a little bankroll at the $2NL plays beautifully

Hopefully the Casinos end up making more money from the introduction of online poker in their area (re-introduction) that way other Casinos will notice that online poker isn't cannibalizing their business and will follow suit and push for online poker to be legal.

Kind of amazing how big money business's can push things along a little more quickly

Poker is not that lucrative compared to other casino games

I know, I didn't say it was. What I meant was hopefully they see that online poker won't kill their live poker money/rooms and makes it a little bit more profitable then it is so the casinos will be more for it then against it.

They already see it. It was a miscalculation, opposing internet poker. It stopped growth in the game that was a boon to card rooms across the country. That's why they are fighting over the pie now.

I think a lot of potential advocates for online poker legislation are lost because of negative comments and news. If the online community would shrug a small defeat, or slow action off, and keep slugging, more and more players that stand on the side line waiting for the few soldiers to gain a few victories would join in the battle. I used to be one of those on the side line, hoping that the few warriors would get something done. That is exactly why the political system is where it's at today, everyone hoping someone else will do the dirty work. Well, they are!!!

as much as i'd like to see congress legalize online poker.....

I'd be pretty pissed (and so would most of the country) if they did this before doing at least a dozen other things that are REALLY REALLY important

we've still got soldiers dying in some countries, while governments slaughter their own citizens in other countries and we do nothing.

we've still got no budget passed for years (continuing resolutions don't count)

we've still got wage earners paying a higher % of their income in taxes than trustafarian billionaires

we've still got marijuana set as a class I narcotic (ABOVE heroin) while pharmaceutical companies rake in the dough using citizens as guinea pigs.....

we've still got the patriot act and no child left behind act which are just hilarious euphamisms for terrible laws and ideas....

so I HOPE that online gambling is not touched until at least some of these other issues are addressed.

I really hope it does happen. I miss the all day running 45 man sit and go's. $5, $11, $25. All day. One after another. Just was so fun to be able to win good prizes in two hours. One day, I hope it will happen.

Politicians couldn't give the slightest **** about online poker at this point.

Hell, I live in Oklahoma and, with all of the Native American casinos here, I doubt the state will take any action on the issue in the near future.

I think your view is pretty short-sighted. After all, the money generated for the government by making poker legal and taxing it could help with many of the issues you mentioned above.

The cold, hard truth is that there won't be an online poker bill that originates in the House of Representatives. The two current bills will not come out of committee. The only chance federal legislation has is if Reid can tuck it into another bill and sneak it thru a conference without too much objection. And since Reid has shown himself to not only be an ineffective leader in the Senate, but also not really the gaming advocate his donors believed he would be, I don't see that happening either.

Well, the day came when at least one state got an online site going. The door is open, anyway. And 'said' state was all against it too, but look who is the first state to have it. I don't think it's going to take years to get other states going, but some, such as my state have their heads buried up a horses azz and may never join others in a compact. And what's more ignorant is the fact that it isn't illegal for Kentucky players to play, but neither is it legal. That kind of gray area is detrimental to any advance of a law. And a few states prohibit any kind of gambling. So, the chance for legislation is good, just have to build a fire under the politicians bums to get them moving.

What kills me is that horse racing and the lottery is legalized in KY but no casinos? Gambling is illegal? Really? I live in Louisville and whenever I feel like going to a casino I drive over to southern Indiana.. Now the state of IN is profiting... When will KY wise UP?

There was a hearing today in a House Sub-committee on the state of internet gambling

http://youtu.be/Xz_LAPOIZmw

Currently watching it... It is kind of making me upset though because every time some one who is against online poker talks I want to be able to correct the BS that comes out of their mouths...

The one guy was talking like Online poker would kill casinos because our phones would become casinos.. Ummm no this is a Poker bill, your revenue does not come from poker if anything Online poker will get more people in to your casinos..

The other guy is against gambling 100% talked about slots for 80% of his opening statement said things like "you have no chance of winning" Umm noo... Poker is a game of skill and this is a poker bill not a slots bill...

I think the Guy from Texas said it best "God is for this poker bill" lol

I wish I could go in there an be like "Chairman, what does the United States of America symbolize? Freedom, Yet if Americans want the freedom to play Online poker we have to move to canada"

"We are going to play online poker no matter what just like people use to drink alcohol no matter what the law was/is.. The government can either hop on board and make money and have the economy flourish or get left behind and let us keep spending our money on off shore black market sites."

So now I see Adlesons full plan... I was wondering what does it matter if the United States regulates it or not to him people will still play like we do now.. but they want them to shut down every site =o I don't know how they could they are not in our jurisdiction...

Also Love how they say Online poker is bad and is taking it to far when they have the following for their Casinos..

http://www.cantorgaming.com/

^^ Allows people to play every game (except poker) online from inside the Casino or in reach of the Wifi, it also allows people to use Sports book any where from Nevada..

So let me get this straight.. Online gambling bad... except when they are making money off of it... ?
