The European Poker Tour has always been my favorite poker tour (Monte Carlo was staged fantastically earlier this year) and pokerstars have now announced the tour is returning to London this coming October (18th to 28th) after an absence of several years.

Additionally they are going to combine with the United Kingdom Poker Tour so the array of events will be wider than normal. Excitingly, the event will be held at the Hilton Hotel Park Lane, I believe the first time held at such a venue. The Hilton enjoys one of the best locations in London, just above Hyde Park Corner and Picadilly with views over Hyde Park itself.

It's odd because by many accounts the online game has somewhat stagnated, especially after the Covid 19 boom which spurred a short sharp period of growth, but the demand for live tournaments would appear to be very strong. So I would expect a huge turnout for the October Tournament.

Hopefully PokerStars will then reschedule EPT Prague back to December as was tradition (it was delayed in 2021 and moved to March this year) so that will be two great poker events in close succession.

Two Platinum Pass packages will be up for grabs for the revitalized London leg of the European Poker Tour. Prize packages for the event will be up for grabs starting August 14th at PokerStars in multiple qualifiers with buy-ins starting at £1.10.

You can check out CardsChat's article on this event, too! :)

Hippodrome Casino to Host First EPT London in Eight Years

Just so everyone is clear, the Cards Chat report appears to have condensed information from the Pokernews release in a somewhat confusing manner (see the Pokernews link above).

The European Poker Tour and I believe all the UKPT events are being held at the Hilton Hotel, Hyde Park. Cash games only will be held at the Hippodrome Casino for the duration, a few miles away near Leicester Square. Which is why the EPT is providing a shuttle between the two venues. Of course that means the Hippodrome Casino will be conducting business as usual but I expect it will be fully decked out in EPT livery for the event.

The Hippodrome is also serving as a pre-registry location for the event itself (I do not believe you can enter any EPT London event via the Hilton Hotel before the event).

No one has stated why the event itself has moved from the Hippodrome Casino to the Hilton Hotel, where it was traditionally held. I can only assume that the Hilton might offer them a large space which helps the EPT set up a feature table in the manner they did in Monte Carlo and also host a potentially larger than normal field.
