I hope he has successful surgery and makes a full recovery obviously. No matter how much longer he lives, his influence on the game will be felt forever!
He posted it on twitter: "Simple or not, this will be my 12th major operation. Gonna play poker now because i always heard u get lucky right before u die"
I think till his humour is with him, he's all right. I hope we will see him soon in a big live tournament.
That's probably less likely, regardless of the outcome - he's been scaling back his tournament play for years now and just focusing on the cash games, doesn't like the grind of long days at tournament tables any more. And fair enough too.
Thoughts and best wishes are with him, true legend of the game.
GL Doyle you were always one of my favorites of the original poker guard to get fame , always seemed like a genuine nice guy that would just be fun to play with and be around . I really hope everything works out great and he can continue to be one of the best ambassadors for the game it has ever had !
Pamela (his daughter) said that a small mole on his head turned out to be melanoma - it is his 3rd.
He was playing poker last night and was totally fine.
It will be removed soon - if it was detected early he should be okay. It is not really surgery to remove a cancerous mole. They have no reason to believe it has spread and do not think that it has.
