5 months later, Oct 1st, Ricardo Calleja, another Santa Lookalike man final tabled the WPT prime Madrid Ladies Event.

Apparently, Ricardo showed documents proving he's legally changed his gender.

The other ladies don't seem bothered by Ricardo's presence like the americans were by Dave's.

From the English translation on that link.
"The story of Calleja's gender change is due to the fact that when she was widowed in 2012, she was left in charge of her two children (a boy who was then 7 years old and a girl who was 5 years old) , and as a "single mother" she had many more legal advantages. when it came to taking care of his two children than as a "widowed father" , so he made that decision. The interview below is not wasted."
That is a very sweet story...God bless her. ❤️

Well technically they didn't do smth wrong according to laws. Women's ONLY events are technically illegal.
I think however there's no reason to envy women over a women's only event.
I can fully understand that women see the beneficiaries of such events. Let's face it (Most) men are pigs and never treat women as equals .
The most sad part is many men don't get that...
Like this idiot who kissed a woman of the winning football Team in the recent cup and doesn't understand what he done wrong and why he had to resign 🙄
So why should they stop with this disrespectful attitude on the felt?

These santas however are just pricks to disrespect this social covention imo

<3 I always get in trouble for responding to this kind of stuff <3

I personally think it is not okay to separate us here. I think Casino's have some explaining to do if women are openly treated poorly there as well. Maybe that should be what they focus there time on in this situation. I also wonder where are the good people that would just let these things happen? Be damned if someone was at my table being harassed.
I also think that there are other groups of people that would feel more comfortable among themselves. To just be considerate to the little ladies and there there darling us is a bit yucky. So either separate us all, and have mixed games for everyone OR this could be a radical thought.... we can all finally learn what it means to get along :p

Sorry for the people I make angry <3 I still do not see the point but I thank you for letting me air mine. Please feel free to attempt to get your point across again and still love to all.

I am fiercely proud of being a woman <3 and we do not need special treatment <3 but I do like the smaller field of those games <3

Love your attempt to ease the tension in this thread.

I get that. It's just also that poker is a male domain. I'm an advocat for women's pokergames cause I think it's a great way to introduce more women to poker.
Let's face it there way to few ladies playing.
Every live event is a sausage fest:)

<3 AND I also do not play live...but I am haunted by the thought of what casino's are actually doing to stop this <3 they have every person being watched already from what I understand. To stop cheating, could they not open there vision to abuse?
At least that was what I was told was the problem and why they have them. Women do not need segregation in poker to feel safe, what about if we are not playing poker, just like walking around the casino? And why are men the bad guys, women can be jerks too. And why is it the only community that needs to feel safe? IDK <3 just my point of view. AND Sometimes I just cannot get a point lol even if someone has it neatly laid out in front of me :p lol
Good chat :p thanks for engaging mister. I am totally okay if anyone wants to try and help explain it more to me <3 but be warned :p I am slightly daft at times lol :) All part of my charm :p

Sometimes it helps to be a woman because many men assume we don't have very much experience
and I will play dumb if it helps me win money, kind of like a pool shark :p:D:ninja:

Well said Becky! When at the poker table, never ever let on how knowledgeable you actually are. And that goes for anyone who plays.

The article states that he did change his gender for his kids because as a single mother he had more benefits than as a single man. So he did this for his kids and now he enjoys other benefits as well 😀👍

Looks like u can just go somewhere in spain to an office and change ur gender (on the paper) if u feel like it 🙂 because he is obv not trying to look like a woman.

I might change my gender too in the near future if its that easy (and grow a big beard). Just for the lolz and to provoke some snowflakes that i personally know 😂👉🌞
(Yeah ok the real reason is because i want to be able to play in cc women-only events. Caught! Caught!)

Well, if he took part, then all the rules have been met and he can take part in tournaments because according to the documents he is female, everything is fine now the world is so developed so it's not surprising that we just wish him success and victories in such tournaments and cool news for poker players because this way you can soon attract new poker players if you know who I'm talking about:)

It is strange but also in the netherlands you can also change your gender in the passport from male to female even you are still a male...

Strange but true.

Good for you billiboo , personally I have been playing poker for over 60 years (yes I am an octogerian), and I have lost hands, games and tournaments to players of both genders…so let’s get over it and just play the game.😍

100% with you here!!! :) It is one of the few games we can actually play together, and division or finger pointing never fixes anything in my opinion <3

Agreed Becky. What kills me is when many of my male friend say this and the 2 of the best poker players in our friend group are the lady's. It does make me laugh than even in defeat they cant admit they lose to the lady's. I am good friend with them both and would be part of there tag team event if ever got the chance to play them.

Sometimes these debates can turn a little political, which so far this thread hasn't which is great. In the end I'm all for choice....The Womens only games are popular, therefore there is clearly the demand. So I don't see an issue.
It does annoy me when men try and play, I just think its disrespectful to the aim of the tournament, and therefore the participants too. It basically proves the reason for their need in my opinion!

Plus from my experience of playing live, we can sometimes have practically men only events anyway, as although you can see there are some females playing they are so few they never end up on my table.

Of course it would be better if they weren't required, but I believe they serve a purpose, and I can't really see a downside. They are an extra game, so its not as if the event would be open to all if it wasn't a ladies game, it just wouldn't exist!

One interesting point to consider, its the men playing in the games and the potential impact. Its probably not that much, and may even paradoxically raise the awareness even further!
