What do you think? For me it depends a lot, there are players that in the year (as an example), are to play big tournaments, with very big prizes and can win a lot of money, but it does not mean that the next year you will win the same thing again. I would like to expand this topic more, this question. I read them.

I believe both is very viable to make good money and essentially earn more than the other, but just from logic and personal feeling (no actual statistics to back this up) I'd say tournament play should net a good player more money.
As you said it yourself, in tournament play there are swings. One year you can make insane amounts of money and next year you can be in the minus. With cash play you have way more sustainable earnings, but they are not nearly as big as some great tournament places.

In the end each should choose what's best for themselves.

You actually have to go with what you like. While some players enjoy the challenge of cash games, others enjoy the excitement of poker
tournaments with big cash winnings. Every format has its own own tactics and advantages. As tournaments have a higher unpredictability,
it's possible to go months or even a year without winning anything. If you play well, variance will balance out in money and you should end
up winning over time. I now primarily play freeroll mtts, though if I just have 30 minutes to play, I occasionally dabble in cash games.

I think it depends on each person. Some players are like me and enjoy and wanna be good at MTT's. But as it turns out while I don't enjoy cash games quite as much as MTT's I'm better as cash as that's where I make most my money. There's likely other players the exact opposite of me that enjoy cash more but make more from MTT's.

So I've settled for playing mostly cash now and throwing in a few big events Tourney's when pokerstars has them every year. Or I'll play a bigger buy-in tourney when I'm feeling it hoping to get a bit lucky. Gonna look into taking a MTT course down the road once I can my cash game where I want it too be.

Cheers!!!

Hello brother.
It seems to me that both options are viable.
I personally love playing MTT but many times time is the problem.
That's why you go to low limit cash tables (0.80/2 or 2/5) always at poker stars.
I'm honest with you, playing cash is not bad for me in terms of income, because I have a fairly patient way of playing in which I don't go crazy at all with allins or anything like that.
I try to go with cards with a high mathematical possibility, and well if the showdown favors me then go ahead.
I also really like to observe the tables because there are a lot of bluff players and you must take risks and find them in their traps, which have a high percentage.
My regards, brother:giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle:

Personally, it should be about what you enjoy most.

Cash games are much more consistent to bring in the cash. You will have variance but not to the extremes as tournaments would. Tournaments are great to get a big boost when you win but then you may not get one for who knows how long. I have gone over 40 tournaments without a cash twice in my playing. I have seen winning players be in down swings of 150 and 200+ buy ins between there big wins.

I believe it's the cash game, but I have my doubts. I think it depends a lot on the applied volume too.

Hi.
It all depends on the player. This question is purely individual. For example, I always preferred tournaments, because in cash games I lost more often than I won.

Are you kidding? Lol… honestly… based on the bad beats that I have experienced over the past 20 years- how can anyone that isn’t sponsored or hold equity in one of the online poker sites win? EVER??!! Lol seriously 😳

In my opinion, it depends on the player, his experience and skills. For example, if a player plays only tournaments, he may have a very long losing streak, but then one tournament he wins will change everything, and he will be in a good position. But cash game players, in my opinion, have a slightly more stable income, in cash games everything does not depend on one hand, if I lose, for example, I will immediately buy-in and continue playing, and in a tournament at a later stage, if you lose, you cannot re-enter, and several hours of playing have brought nothing. There are different situations, someone likes to play tournaments, someone likes cash games, as long as the player enjoys it and makes a profit, then everything will be fine.
