An interesting thing happened to me tonight. After a long day of travel then getting settled into my accommodations for the next 5-7 days I sat down with a drink and opened up my favourite poker room to play a quick round of poker only to be denied access to any real money games. I had travelled from Ontario to Wisconsin to film an episode for my TV show and it actually took me a few minutes to realize why I could not play any real money games. U.S. IP address. So that leaves me to ask What do I do now?

Sometimes you don’t realize how much something is a part of your life until it’s gone.

Just don't play. I know it sucks, but there are other things you can do with your time for a few days. I would not ever suggest trying to circumvent regulations on a site. It will only lead to trouble for you down the road.

I remember that something similar happened with me in Spain so i'd imagine next time you are about to travel (to some foreign country and wish to play online poker at destination) it is probably better to NOT go somewhere which have so many restrictions ...

If its important to you to be able to play outside Ontario, then the solution is to open an account on an unregulated site like ACR or BOL. Its the same issue here in sweden. We have several regulated sites to play on, but we are only allowed to play while in Sweden. If for instance I move 30 km across the border to Denmark, where I am born, I get a similar message.

Hey..buck up and get creative..and a technical aptitude helps also. Whatever you do, understand the terms and agreements that you signed up for when you opened an account..be legal. Now, are there loopholes? Next look at what is available to you online..mix and match. There are working solutions. The simplest route is to open an account that you can play anywhere. By the way, I'm in Ontario as well...interesting times.

at this time it is better not to play, as there is a serious risk of being blocked and losing your account

If you have the bankroll, open up pokeratlas to see if there is a decent casino nearby and at the very least do some site seeing. Maybe find an interesting buffet. HHmmmm buffet, lol.

If I was you I would just play on ACR. Unless these stupid regulations change I am going to spend future retirement winter months in the Okanagan instead of Arizona. A little cooler climate but at least I can play for real money on pokerstars in BC.

Your case is clear. In the US, it is illegal to play for money on Pokerstars.
It happens to me, without any change in the place of the game,
that a window pops up on pokerstars that in my country there are
no games for money and does not allow you to play for money.
Even in our freerolls. I then reload the site and
the ban does not pop up. With what it is connected I do not know.

Jeez, I would hate to stay in the U.S, and needing a quick poker fix. I guess the best bet is to go to a casino, but that is not always viable. I guess the U.S is not such a free country after-all. Personally, i would either spend time with family, or go out and enjoy nature.

that's really a shame but what should you do, the main thing is that you stay on the legal side because why risk everything and then in the end you might be blocked forever. Better enjoy your time and see it as vacation from poker and when you are back and can play come back full of freshness. And who knows, it might be good for you not to be able to play poker for a while.
