Live without a doubt. I tried the online stuff on the major sites during the boom and would still have a dead connection when I had something on the line and I can't tell you how many times I was heads up against someone but they would quit on me online so I started playing Heads up SNGs online lol.
I LOVE ACR but what happens like the 1st or 2nd Cardschat freeroll or actually one of the 1st few tourns I played in Jan 2022 when I started playing poker on a regular basis again?
"We're sorry, but your tournament has been. . . " paused or something for technical difficulties, lol. I haven't experienced that since and again, I LOVE ACR but it was an evil reminder of why I would rather play live if I was serious about poker. The tourn resumed like 20 mins later but I still wasn't happy.
Never had to worry about a disconnect but Ive been in killer traffic and regretted going to the casino but it was still better than a disconnect online.
I also like seeing who I'm playing but that's just me. I heard of nightmare stories of collusion, multiple accounts and bots and lots of nasty things even back then and didn't like what I heard. Sure you'll get a buddy/buddy or wife and husband here and there at the live table but its nothing like that online stuff.
The weekend tourns are always the big draw online so that has always been the big draw for them. But if you're not really a tourn player like I was but a cash player, then live was really the way to go because the same limits live were almost always softer than online back then, anyway.
Even if you live far away from a casino but you know it has enough players like Vegas, NOLA, Atlantic City, parts of Florida- Miami and Tampa, just to name a few in the US you could drive a few hours on the weekends stop at a truck stop or rest area to get a few hours sleep if need be, then continue on to the casino and do the reverse going home.
As long as you planned it out and found safe spots for a layover then its not a big deal playing live.
Even playing overnight, same thing, stop the session in the early morning then find a rest area to change clothes after you have some sleep or go to a truck stop and see if they have car parking spaces available then take a shower for a few bucks and go back to the casino for the next day if it was a Saturday and you knew folks would be there early afternoon but not when its dead like during the early weekday afternoons, lol.
And never do that in a mall or Walmart shopping area unless its open 24 hours and you have permission by just walking in the store and tell the manager you've been driving too many hours and looking for a spot to get some sleep for a few hours.A lot of times they'll say ok. But if the stores are closed and try to stay there then the police or a psycho could wake you up, lol.
Ohh the stories of going to the casino and meeting people, lol. I babbled long enough, lol the answer is LIVE!
