Its a totally different game.. Live you can read players better. You also can intimidate players, not saying bully but let players know you are the one running this table. Its much easier getting into someones head live. I'm not a phil hellmuth type tho I more believe in Daniel negreanu theory of be nice make people like you and make people happy that at least they gave a friend their chips. Now online is cheaper (rake wise) but i believe the anonymity of online allows players to make stupider moves because you aren't sitting at a table with live bodies judging you. I also play for way different entries, in online i may play up to a $20 entry where as in live I average $300 to $600 entry fees. So that also effects my perception of the game. Also I make more money in 1-2 NL or 5-10 NL live but dont seem to be able to break those limits online. So for me live is more profitable.

from my point of view if it is in online poker you have big tournaments every week without having to move from your room this does not happen in live poker, that's why I think it is more profitable not to invest in pay for travel, hotel, food (all this if you have to travel) to play a good tournament, for me there is the profitability of online poker, about the game although there are differences, I think there are not many changes you must make to adapt to play live poker if you are an online poker player

A very difficult question, it depends on the place and people with whom you play. Although, it seems to me, if you are a pro in your field, you can make good money both online and offline. However, in live poker it is important to be able to control your emotions, without this, you can become a good player and

Of course online poker is much more profitable than live. In every sense more profitable. At home, play more comfortable, you can at any time quickly go to the toilet or for food. No need to spend money on transportation and hotel accommodation, no need to spend time on registration in tournaments and waiting. For cash players online is even better, you do not need to wait for landing at the table, the hands are much faster, you can play at once at several tables, which increases your profit several times.
The only plus in a live game is communication with other players.

Online poker is convenient, and you can put in a lot of volume, which to some extend can compensate for a lower hourly winrate per table. However the high stakes online scene has been gradually dying since Black Friday, and with all the software available today to assist players this development is likely to continue. So online is mostly a place to have fun, practice and win small amounts of money. If your dream is to get rich playing poker, you have to play live. Just look at the pros, that emerged in the 00`s. Do you see any of them playing online today? No. But you see them playing live games in Macau and other places around the world.

I think the last part of your statement says ALOT. very few if any are going to live off online poker and the pros who did play for sites were funded solely by the sites and never had to put there own money up and still couldnt make it. Before black friday im sure there were those that could live off online poker, i just dont see it being feasible these days

For the vast majority live will be softer therefore net you more money. Online poker isn't easy and live poker is years behind online.

There have certainly been people making money from online poker even after Black Friday, and I dont think, anyone was ever sponsored by a poker site without being a pro already. Some like Daniel Negreanu came from a live background and ended up losing online, but others have made significant money online, and some still do.

If you look at the overall picture though, most on the online pros are now from countries, where living costs are low, and where often these is no significant live poker scene. And for these guys it still makes sense. But if you are from a high income country, there are better career plans than to become a full time grinder.

Online poker can still be a nice side hustle though, as long as playing also bring enjoyment. Some people claim, that online poker is dead, but I wonder, when these people last played the micros? There are still plenty of fish and gamblers giving away their money, but they tend to give away 5$ at a time rather than 50 or 500.

I agree with all this, plus if you are figuring profit per hour travel TIME counts too.

Of course yes. At least because players are more comfortable playing at home. Their home can be anywhere in the world :) And of course, a game at several tables. However, live poker has its advantages too (players emotions / travel), despite the fact that the public person must take care of his safety in the end. But a definite answer does not exist, each type of game has its drawbacks and its advantages. We must use the symbiosis of the best of this and play both offline and online!)

I think $1 $2 live is much easier than 50 c $1 online. Small stakes live games are just much softer than the same level of stakes online.

Online over Live any day if you're looking for volume and bang for the buck in tournaments. Live games often cost more money to play with less of an ROI when it comes to local mtt's. The amount of money you invest in one live tournament you can invest in many tournaments online with a chance at a massive score. Being that you're playing from the comfort of your own home with the ability to play anytime you want is a huge plus.

Poker online vs live

Good morning everyone, in my opinion online poker is much more profitable, because you can play dozens of mtt online and this is not possible in live poker.
Only for top players, live poker is more profitable than online.
Bryn Kenney
Justin Bonomo
Phil Ivey
Phil Hellmuth
Daniel Negreanu
For these players and some others who are far above the average, live poker is much more profitable.

for me live is more profitable by far. i attribute this to better reads because you are able to see your opponents. also being able to be vocal helps misguide opponents and gather information on them with simple table-talk.

On line, in my opinion is grossly unfair, it's one thing to get a bad beat, it's another to have it programmed. spoils the game.
having said that,i would go to a site, that played truly random hands.

It depends, if you study a lot but have difficulty making live reads, then it will probably be more profitable. Otherwise, live tends to be much softer.

I think the problem at online poker is you did not know the players or not very good they changed too fast ,when you play live you know mostly whow the players play ,so I have better chances to win

live poker vs. online poker

I think online poker is more profitable especially if you have a low bankroll. To play live poker you need a high bankroll. I think online poker is more profitable because of the possibility of multitabling and being able to play much more hands than in live poker. Also the low buy in tournaments add a touch of profitability to online poker. In online poker you have the chance to generate a significant bankroll from a starting bankroll of 50 or 100 dollars if you play the right games and play good poker. To play live poker I think you would need at least minimum a $2000 dollar bankroll to play the 1-2 no limit game which I think is the lowest stake available in live poker at most casinos which work with dollar currency. Also the lowest buy in tournaments in live poker are much more expensive than the lowest buy in tournaments in online poker.

I think live poker has more technical players. If that makes the game more difficult on the other hand it decreases the variation.
In online poker we find more maniacs who call All In with 2-8 and occasionally end up being lucky and winning AA.
I believe that one thing pays off for the other and in the end everything stays the same.
