I see streamers, like Spraggy playing several, 5-6 big buy-in tournaments at the same time and succeed with them.
Of course, these professionals are a different level, but I was wondering, how can they do that?

My current understanding of an MTT is that it's not enough to play 'optimally', to have proper pre-flop play and know about equities but you should also watch your opponents at the table see their tendencies and exploit them. By switching back and forth between several tables, can they really identify player types and categorise them already or they are playing more only with GTO, checking only their actual card and position and not dealing with passive/aggressive/loose/tight etc categorisation?

Also, I don't see them using HUDs most of the time (because that would explain this a little bit: in this case they don't have to watch every hand, as the stats are automatically updated and always there).

Spraggy uses HUD. You do not see the overlay during stream but he does reference to it verbally sometimes when talking about actions on the table.

He also takes notes of players vs which he often plays. At his level of play there are not many randoms and if you grind regularly you can get familiar with most of the field. He does mix it up and goes down to very low mid stakes where the field is more varied, but at the same time 20 bucks for him is nothing and its more a content source for the stream.

And finally everybody tries to play GTO at his level of play. It is not as wild as micro stakes. You have a basic framework under which everybody acts.

I would assume most multi tablers are using huds, I've seen streamers playing 12 or 16 tables, seems like a nightmare to me personally, ..... they would have to use a hud, no way to watch that many tables themselves(y)

@Branimir84 Hm, if he is using a HUD then it makes more sense. And it also makes sense that on higher stakes you don't play with that thousands of different players so maybe they know them already.

@Poker Orifice : haha, that's already a lot for me 🤣

Even if I use a HUD as well, multitabling is not so easy to me :)
3 tables is my maximum.

I’m stuck playing pokerstars on my ipad. It’s pretty dificult to do that with more than one table running at the time. Probably easier with a HUD…

5-6 is an ok number for me. I've seen players that plays multiple tables and on 2 screens, that's way too much for me.

If you define a strategy and you stick to it, your play at the tables when multi-tabling will be more automatic and does not involve much of active thinking. The HUD won't help you that much.

I think if you are a good player and don't want to play exploit too much, you can play without HUD.

i think from my{little} experience the more you play, starting with one table..then advance...from the one table you play you will easily identify player types. It doesnt have to be all of them but during the course of your play...a certain opponent will make several weird moves that sets them apart. Now come to multitables...these weird plays will be more pronounced especially if you are involved with such a player in a couple of hands.

Surely when they play a lot of tables they have several monitors so that all the tables are always in sight. One monitor can have 2 or 4 tables in view at once. Depending on the size of the monitor screen. That's how I would play. Video cards allow you to connect many monitors. For example, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Founder's Edition 6 GB 192-bit GDDR6 can connect 4 monitors at once. I think that 4 monitors is not the limit for video cards.

I tried playing Multi-Tables (without a HUD) and found it very hard work! and I know from watching on-line streamers like Spraggy and Lex Veldhuis they do use HUDs but they would clutter the screen if they were shown to the viewers.
Personally I play Poker as a treat to myself after a long day at work, so that I can relax, and I enjoy the game play and banter when I play a live game at a Pub or Casino,
On-line Poker, playing freerolls and small stake SnGs are just practice sessions that I use to improve my game, so that when I play Live games I don't make a fool of myself,
For pros like Lex Veldhuis it is a job for them, playing multiple tables for the viewers of their streams, but they do take days off like any other person does when they have a job to do.

Yeah, sure, I wasn't talking about the convenience or screen limitations. 🙂 I also have three screens so I would be able to play several tables in parallel. Just I don't feel comfortable with that yet. I try to identify and categorize my opponents as much as I can, and I think, as of now, and as I'm on lower stakes, it would be hard to concentrate on all tables. Though a HUD might help, but I haven't used that yet frequently.
