This is just one reason why I prefer cash games. The flexibility to leave whenever you want.

late entry/rebuys

some of the online poker sites have tourneys with 180 minutes of late entry ,unlimited rebuys and a final add on ! it seems like the real play doesn't even start till 3 hours into the event . you'd better be quite patient if you want to take that kind seriously .

I find myself getting bored and playing stupidly after 3hrs+ in a tournament and throwing away chances to win!

Also, I really miss being able to try and read people like you can in live games - wish there were online tells!!!!

:jd4:

P.S. I mean the loneliness during a tournament - not in general.

You can't get up and go for a walk during a tournament, now can you!
If I play in one tournament and it gets boring, then I run on the computer somehow funny transmission or something else simultaneously with poker and I continue to play and watch, but more often than not I'm bored I run several tables and tournaments and a game cache and it kills my boredom!

I played for 8,5hrs in a tourney last night - once again boredom made me overplay AQ and I went out in 147 out of 4,500 odd - small cash could have been a big one.

I'm too old for the grind online, live maybe but online tourneys are too long!!

Don't be sorry for your opinion.
When I talked about the time of reaction I meant medium or long. snap raise will give you more information. Sometimes players bet 1/3 or 1/2 of the pot, no matter what. Just because it's such function on Pokerstars. Not because of strenght of the hand. Sometimes player raises 5BB(1/3 of the pot/ bets if you check) with nothing and 2BB with monster. Or vice versa. patterns.

How do you read face expression? When player look at you before or after betting it can mean he/she hopes you are able to call or he/she is scared if you call. Time of the look is similar. I noticed few other face expressions which look absolutely the same but mean absolutely different.
Once yes, it can happen even if you know all tells. Well, the same in live games.
I never understood sunglasses & hoodies. sunglasses? Well, your forehead will give more information. hoodies? I can still see your cheeks and how you sit, how your hands move.

All tells are myths..
Easily faked as well.

Reaction time on-line??? What if I'm playing 16 tables and my cat just knocked over my drink in my lap???

YOU need to download the Happy Hud,, It's allows you to see stats and shows facial expressions when u bluff , raise with air, or when you have the nuts,, you get to put them in the bag and draw 1 out ??? and maybe get the win

When I get bored on one table, I either open new tables, or music from yotube, even some documentaries. Yes, and watching football (football) on TV, it's always a good idea

As opposed to the noisy smelly obnoxious people in person? Easy, weed, my own music, my own food, my own bathroom, get to smoke my cigarettes and cigars without idiots, don't have to listen to and watch morons play with their chips and look at their cards 20 times, as if they are going to change, LMFAO!

Lonely is GREAT for me, my wife gives me space when I need it, for porn and poker, and occasionally she likes to watch, so, I am never so lonely to be crying about it and for the record BARNEY DON'T GAFF!

Podcasts, reading, writing, 2-3 tables, and whatever else in the background that doesn't distract too much / leaves me space to play an important hand.

Gosh I wish I could do cardo and play. Maybe I could setup a exercise bike + poker combo. ;)

Do you all feel that when you do multi-task e.g. multiple tables / media watching that you lose a lot of information on the players at your table(s)? And have you noticed any loss in your playing due to that? I guess it depends on how important a particular game is to you, but if we're always aiming to do our best, then watching players and taking notes on hands we're not involved in could be that extra push.

But I get the boredom, and maybe doing something else additionally helps me not get bored enough to play hands poorly after some time. A give and take I suppose + discipline.

Tourney breaks do help if I take advantage of them, to walk away and refresh my mind and body & come back reinvigorated. Do you all force yourself to take breaks from your cash game marathons for this reason?

Great question because it is a long time if you go deep in a big tournement. I use Music, searches, forums like this, emails, I', on a computer so I use it, and every break I get up and move.

I'm not sure about the loneliness meaning. I enjoy getting in the zone and play my best when there's no outside distraction. Not sure how ppl can multi table like 10+ tables. I struggle with 3 at the most and find that any more than that I'm not picking up vital info on when ppl have 3 bet folded etc

I would definitely recommend opening another tab especially if you're only 1 or 2 tabling. Subscribe to all your favorite youtuber's and watch their videos. Maybe you could even get a movie going. If you keep your mind occupied you won't feel lonely.

I listen to music, watch Netflix - nothing too serious or with subtitles, multi-tabling helps as well.

A few times I have had nights with a few friends were we all pool some money and enter different tournaments, get a takeaway in and have a bit of fun with online.

CC is great for that - if you're ever bored or lonely join up the players lounge and join this new discussion

Chiptole - Whats in the sauce? I'm calling you out!

Its a bit intense of a topic but would love your input and help kindle the fire to a great discussion

I agree with you Nathan , those endless hours are the main drawback for the MTT players but can you feel the thrill of a final table by winning 5 buy ins in cash games? :/

I feel like the best option is playing both

LOL, real Pokerlife!
I do the same and am more than glad when poker allows me to do some of the other stuff.
It's almost olympic to make a sandwich, a coffee and go to the toilet in a 5 minutes break :dancing2:
