I want to know if there is percent or amount i need to tip?

Most of the tournaments i played, winnings my winnings were betweem $250-600. Every tournament, i would tip $20.
Last two times, my winnings were $887 and 1107. I tipped $27 each.
I want to know if it was enough. Just like how tipping in restaurants are roughly 20% of subtotal, i want to know if there's percent in tipping for live tournaments.

1st place on the tournament i got knocked out of, was $18k. I wonder how much is consider adequate tipping if u win that big. Would $100 be enough?

Well, it really depends on where you play, but the amounts you mentioned above are honestly too low (cheap) anywhere.

If you play in casinos, 15% would be adequate for the amounts you have won so far, but if you win $18K, $100 would be a ridiculous tip !
If you play in underground clubs, consider that the dealers don't get paid, so 20% would be nicer. Believe me man, dealing cards is not an easy job.

PS : In restaurants, 15% is the usual standard unless you want to be more generous (Depending on the service or maybe the waitress 🤪).

By 'anywhere', do you mean anywhere in North America? In Europe I expect the amounts should be much lower.

15%-20% just seems like so much, possibly your whole ROI, all your poker profits, you just give away to the dealer. Is that really right? Where do these etiquette rules come from?

It would be so much easier if staff if the casinos paid their employees properly! And then the dealers pay does not wildly vary depending on who runs deep in the tournament and how generously or not they tip.

By "anywhere", I meant anywhere you'd play (Casinos or clubs), wasn't so clear, sorry.
It is true that I was talking with the US rules and customs in mind, but in any case, it's very easy to turn a tip into an insult. If in doubt, I suggest keeping $20 and the like in your pocket.

Vegas casinos. Was at the Orleans Casino two weeks ago. Question just arised out of curiosity. If i win 18k, whats the right amount to tip. If i won $18k, i normally would tip $100. My winnings at a casinos so far this past year has only been $1.1k or smaller where i just tip $20 + change to round it. For instance, my last winning of 1107, i just tipped $27. Other small tournaments where buyin is $60 and i won $400+, i normally just tip $20.

Anytime I win over $500 I tip at least $20. There's usually a tip-box located nearby in any of the rooms around here.
An $18K payday? Hmmm... I guess I'd go around and hand each dealer a green chip. Ten dealers would be $250. Seems reasonable.

When cardrooms where still open over here, people usually only left tips during cashgame.
Probably cause the dealers were only paid for tournaments and at a cashgame table they were dependent on tips.
Usually 1 dollar for each pot.

However when I cashed in a tournament I always left 10% for the floormen and dealers
