This Covid Pandemic has done a lot more than destroy lives, I myself used to be very passionate about playing Poker, I went to my local Pub and played in the weekly league games, even running my own games in that Pub as a favour to the Landlord, as a prize for being in the top 4 in the league we won seats in a regional final held in real casinos in places like Manchester and Liverpool, going on to play in the National finals if we made the top 10.
Unfortunately since Covid shut down all Pubs, Clubs, and Casinos, Poker has had to be put on hold for a while, I joined CardsChat just as the lockdowns were doing their worse and got my Poker fix playing in many freerolls, but I find myself in a predicament, even though my local Pub has reopened and started playing Poker again I contracted Covid about 8 months ago so that stopped me getting out again and now I am terrified of leaving the house unless it is for essentials like food etc.
My biggest problem is playing online for so long I have lost the magic and spark I used to get when I played the game, I need to find what I have lost without actually knowing exactly what I lost in the first place, if you can understand what I am going through I welcome any comments.
Just be patient and if one day that Magic comes back, So Will I!

Dear Pokerpoet,

sure i can understand you, an elementary part of your life is paused, for me its similiar to my behaviour when i was going to pub to watch football matches with friends and other guys i know - this was before covid and now it is not the same like before, pub is closed because owner gave it up and most of guys watch football@home.
Sometimes i was in other pubs or somewhere in public areas football watching but it is not still the same, magic is gone. The old location was familiar to me and friends, this is gone.

By the way i´m a online poker player, during the week i have no time to go outside at the evening and so i spend my time carefull in short online sessions!
I hope you appreciate my opinion - other case but same reason :)!

greets Balou

Hey Poet,

I assume you're talking about the Redtooth games? I play these too. In fact I just went to the Regional final at Stratford yesterday. This is very close to me so very handy. Unfortunately nothing went well, QQ vs AA, then AK vs AQs who rivered the flush being the highlight, lowlights for me.

I understand your reticence having contracted Covid recently, all I can say is that maybe you can try to change your mindset. If going to play live poker is something you miss, then its life you are actually missing out on now. Be the guy who is there wearing a mask, own and make no apologies for being nervous around groups of people in pubs or casinos. Covid is still a significant disease, but as you get more vaccines and have also caught it, logically you would expect any further infections to be down graded in severity. Only you can decide if this, or any other, aspect of your previous life is worth the risk. For me personally I now believe we have to get back to as full a life as possible.

Maybe playing live would help to re kindle the old passion. I know I find online a lot duller having recently got into live play!

Good luck
