Hi everyone, so today I got my second cash in a live tournament. Over 70 entrants and I made final table. I knocked out the bubble and had probably about 60 % of remaining chips. No one had over 5 BB's left, except me and everyone asked to chop. I wanted to continue playing and chop later like top 4. I agreed to chop then because I didn't want to be only one to disagree. I wasn't pressured to make my decision.

If you had the chip lead and only player with 10 BB's and everyone with less then 5BB's. Would you of chopped?

I got knocked out early and decided to re-enter which I'm glad because I cashed. I got all my bluffs through (including 7 2o which I showed) except one bluff (opponent made a pair of 2 on the turn).

KEY hands

I had KcJc in mid position and raised 3X, BB called and UTG called. Flop A 10 X (two clubs), check around. Turn X, I shove, both opponents called, river Qs. I had best hand and trippled up. This was game changing hand.

I had 9's on the cut off, I raised 4X (two limpers), BB shoved, limpers folded, I called. AK vs my 9's. My 9's held, and this was my first knock out in a bounty tournament.

Last hand of tournament, I'm in BB with 5's. C/O shoves, I call, he had Q's. Flop 3 clubs, and one of my 5's was a club. I hit river club and took out the button.

Awesome... Totally awesome! Hell, yeah man. That's one of the best feelings in the world right there, especially cashing in the top 5. It's been almost a month since I've cashed in one, yet I've only played in about 4 or 5 since then.
Anyways, so where are you playing? Are you in a casino or a card room? Just curious. :D

I play in a casino in my home town. Both cashes have been here in the Sunday bounty game (I got my first two bounties yesterday). There are also evening tourneys on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but prefer the Sunday games.

congratulations on such a cool victory, we hope you will also show great live poker results in the future. I also love live poker, these emotions, this aura so it's very cool when you play there but I also like online poker now because you spend less time driving the road is also a big plus

congratulations

Ive chopped a lot. Icm chop. When blinds are high, its a crap shoot. When you have the best of it, best to chop. You dont have much room for skills. Ive chopped all the time and it worked out both ways. Took advantage as a short stack, also, took loss as a chip leader or 2nd in chips. In the long run, it works and everyone walks happy.

Thanks for your reply, I was in my head about whether or not I made correct choice in chopping, but now I know I did. I enjoyed the tourney and look forward to the next one.

Gallardo, I'm starting to like and enjoy live poker. I prefer online poker, but unfortunately not legal where I live.

Thanks everyone for the congrats, likes, and replies.

Just remembered another hand before the FT. I was dealt 9c10c in the BB. UTG min raised (I believe blinds were 800/1600), I caller in mod position, and I called.

FLOP 9s 10s X
I checked, UTG bet 3K (UTG had about 7K left behind), mid position player folded, I shoved, UTG tanked folded. I was scared of the potential draws (straight, flush, straight flush). I also wanted to collect his bounty. Opponent claimed to have a pair of 9's.

Did I play this too aggressive? Would you of called or min raised?

Final 5 players, with 10bb's vs. 5bb's for each of them. I would chop. This isn't any great vantage point in this spot for us on 10bb. Losing vs. one confrontation and now we're one of the shorties. It's a crapshoot.
And like fornia said, keeps others happy (& I'm sure they'll remember it)

Congrats of the cash and victory.

I dont chop for the most part. I dont play for the money but the win. This said I have chopped. There are times it's just worth the chop. If I had your stack at that final table, I would accept a chop if it was worth if. Lets say 1st is 2000 and 2nd is 1100. 3rd 700 and 4th 400. If we were 9 handed and they offered me 1300. Even with such a chip lead we are not guaranteed to get the win. Just getting slightly better than 2nd would be worth it to be.

I once was 2nd in chips with 14 left when we were asked to chop. I was offered about 3rd place payout and was happy to take it. Why? the blinds were just about to go up next hand and I was in the BB next. The blinds were going to double and my 9BB stack would become 4.5 entering the BB. There were alot of players juts looking to bump up and the possibility of my not making the final table were real. Next pay out was under 1000 and i was given somthing like 795. I took it for the bad structure the casino was giving me.

Apparently it was a tight tournament, since many players held on to the last stack of chips until the end. Good bluff, good game.:coffee:

The payout structure at the tournaments here only pay 1st and 2nd place more then the chop. I think I'll continue to chop in these tourneys.
