I have played in a few WSOP Circuit events at the stop in Cherokee, which draws among the largest crowds in the country outside of the WSOP. I played in one tourney that had four starting flights and almost 3,000 total runners. I was in the top 20 after Day 1 (I even got written up in the WSOP blog!) and made it to the money on Day 2. Got crippled when my AA lost to QQ when I hit a set and he hit a straight on the river. You can't beat the thrill of playing a large multi-table tournament. A constant murmur, the steady clack of chips riffling and the occasional outburst; heaven!
