Played live for the first time at my local casino (blinds £1/2) last night, up until this point I've been playing exclusively online,
Although I eventually settled in I will admit I was rather anxious when i first sat down. As a result of this i feel i made some serious mistakes that I wouldn't have made online. The biggest would have been misreading my hand and then raising the river for value when i thought I had a flush. Oops!
I think there is much much more to think about when playing live, information that is given when playing online needs to be calculated by the player when playing live,

It is acceptable to ask the dealer the size of the pot during a hand?

Also at showdown who is obliged to show their hand? The bettor or the caller?

Several players opted to straddle also, something which I'm not used to in online play.

I finished the night down 50BBs which isn't great but not terrible.

Thanks for reading

Thank U 4 Posting

Knowing the house rules is very important before we play. Different casinos may allow different things as far as dealer interaction- type of straddles amount you have to bet to raise a straddle etc.

There are floor people who's job it is to help you with any questions. they can direct you to the rule sheet that all poker rooms are supposed to have available. Also it is them that you want to ask questions of not the dealer. It is a lot better to ask what may seem a silly question off the table before we play.

It is also good manners to not slow the game down with too many questions while playing.

Hope this helps

No, poker is a game of observation so the dealer will not count the pot, they may spread it out a bit to make it easier for you to count it but not always. Keeping track of the pot size is a needed skill for live poker.

The last aggressor shows first.

the best feeling at the moment of being live because it does not resemble online because the variance is a lot

Very nice, def miss live poker (all the casinos and poker rooms within a few hundred miles of me are closed until further notice!).

There's def differences between live and online; live cash is just so much fun.
