I did not have played any live tournament that pays yet,but i believe that a good advice is for you to stay calm, and try to be serious, you probably will do fine
Good luck!

I only played with friends at some cozy eves but here's a nice guide by a member for things to avoid playing live:

Hope you find it helpful!

Tip 1 - Whenever you go to look at the cards, look when it's your turn
Tip 2 - Avoid using phone.
Tip 3 - Always think about the value of the bet before it is made
Tip 4 - Try to find out the stacks of other players
Tip 5 - Seek to be feared
Tip 6 - Relax and have fun

Pay close attention, stay calm and relaxed.
Map your opponents' stacks and get an idea of their sizes.
relaxed attention

Just let it wash over you and enjoy it...it's not an unpleasant experience.

My tip, just make sure you don't act out of turn or react to the flop when you've already mucked. You'll be appreciated for not doing both.

I don't think Phil Ivey would care about your bet sizing....just get yourself settled in your chair and take the cheesy grin off your face, It's a tell.

Remember, it's just a card game and nobody cares who you are, as long as you don't have BO then everyone likes you.

My friend, I'm going to wish you good luck, but tips, I suggest you watch videos of players on YouTube, because there you will have the best way to behave at the tables.

1. It's normal to feel a few butterflies in your stomach right before a tournament starts. Don't worry about it, you'll probably overcome it after you've won a couple of hands.

2. It might be a good idea to watch a few poker hand videos on YouTube before heading off to the casino. It will help get your mind into the game and it could provide you with some good insights that you weren't aware of earlier.

3. Eat breakfast.

4. Tight is right. Especially after you've built up a sizable pot.

5. I try to resist any alcohol when I'm playing live. It's easier to go on tilt or make a mistake that could cost you a penalty when you've been drinking.

6. Be aware that everybody at the table is watching and wondering what you've got in your hand.

7. Don't show your cards after a hand and nobody cares what you folded.

8. Just try to have fun.

Hey man. Nice to see you taking the brick & mortar scenario. Nothing against online but there's no comparison. My advice is simple: announce your initial bets. Dealers like it when they don't have to sit there and try and figure out if it's a call or a raise. Trust me the less players and dealers bitch the better; and since you can't disable their "chat box" it's easier to just come correct from the get-go, plus it gives other players a sense that you belong there.
Other than that, it's all just common sense and social norms from there. GL. (y)

Hi - yes you will have lots going on so you need to get experience before you can take it all in so focus on the two players to your left and two players to your right. The one to your left are particular important as they are in the blinds when you are on the button. So as soon as possible you want to figure out if you will be able to steal the blinds or if you will get raised or reraised and have to fold too many hands thereby wasting your chips. The two to your right try to figure out if they steal topo much when your in the blinds and how much are you willing to defend your blinds will they fold to a reraise from you?? or do they play back 3 and 4 betting? are the LAGs or TAGs player styles etc. Also make sure you fully understand the tournament structure and the timings etc when the B&A increase and the number of blinds you have as the tournament goes on and important to know your opponents stack size and how many blinds they have left. This will tell you if your opponent is short stacked and desperate so probably playing a wider range or if average stack size and maybe will fold to a reraise etc?? Good luck
