Me and three of my friends decided to take a long planned(but never followed through with!) day trip to A.C. Saturday night.. We arrived around 8pm ready for a full night of action at the tables.. This was the first time any of us have played in a poker room other than one of my buddies who had not been up there for several years.. We all signed up for our mandatory Taj cards and hit the tables.. I was looking for a Limit Omaha Hi Lo game but wasn't expected to see any available..Alas, I was correct for the most part.. They had one table of Hi Lo and the waiting was list was for 33 people.. Hi Lo is my better game so I was reluctant to play Hold Em at first.. Anyhow, we put our name on the list for 2-4 limit Hold Em and were ready to go.. To make a long story short I hate Limit Hold'em..Chasers were abound and to make it even worse this insane luckbox sits down to my right and starts dragging pot after pot..I was essentially card-dead for the 2 hours that I sat down and decided to leave the table down about $60 bucks.. No biggie.. We all signed up for the midnight tourney which was an 80+20 tourney.. I was playing my usual tight game because the table was pretty wild.. On the 2nd hand of play at 25-50 levels a dude from early position opened for 3200 in chips.. Hilarious.. Anyhow I busted out on a brutal hand.. The blinds were 600-1200 and I am in the BB..Action folds around to the SB (who has me covered)and he completes.. I look down at Jack King of Clubs and decide to take advantage of my tight play and raise it up 2200 more.. Almost immediately the SB announces All In.. He was a loose player but he hadn't shown down any weird off the wall hands that I had noticed.. Something told me that he was making a move on me though, I don't know what it was but I felt it.. I said out loud to the whole table, "I do not want to go broke with this hand but I really feel like you are making a move here".. So I call.. He flips over Jack 8 off.. I have him totally dominated!.. Until the flop that is.. He hits his 8 and i'm done..Brutal!.. I made the right decision so that was important to me however that didn't dull the pain all that much.. After that fiasco I decided to donk off some more money playing nickel and penny slots.. Finished the trip down about $225 but I still had a great time.. We are hoping to head back up there and try to play in a tournament at the Borgata next time..

Well River sounds like you had a fantastic time with a great story you'll always remember. I would have done the same thing in that situation, it also sounds like you walked out of it with your head high. You gained alot of experience out of the trip, and are looking forward to going again. Good Luck at the tables.

yep

the midnight tournament is just that....crazy!

omaha tables are 2/4 limit with a $40 kill. Im really surprised they let a 33 person wait list go without opening up another table or 2 though. You just missed getting there in time for the PM $100 tourney, that one has alot better play compared to the midnight one. Glad you had fun though.

Yeah, I have a story from the midnight tourney...at 25/50, some guy opens for 5000 and gets called. Ace on the flop, original bettor checks, other guys goes all in. First guy folds KK. Second guy shows AK. Definitely crazy early action betting goes on there.

well

I have told this story before but for those that didnt hear it I will tell it again.

during beginning levels of the tournament I pecked down real quick to see QQ and threw a handful of chips in pot and announced "im raising blind". Some guy in late position said Im all in and I said "im calling your all in blind" and he showed Ax and lost. Afterwards he said you seriously called me blind to which I answered "of course not" lol.

Hi, my first post ever on this site. I am one of River's buddies (the one who had been to AC before our trip). I busted out of the midnight tourney in 18th, just in the money, but pissed didn't do better; could've probably made it further if not for bad luck. Here is my bad beat story... played super-tight all tourney, got money in at key points, good folds, never sucked out on anyone, did almost everything right, etc... finally get to last 2 tables, albeit short-stacked. Blinds are 10k-20k, I'm UTG with 50k left, see A-K suited (forget which), so all-in. Player to left folds, then the next short-stack higher (only few thousand more than me) calls; everyone else folds, he turns over A-J off. I think I'm sitting pretty, smelling final table, until a Jack comes on the flop, no King by the river. Better luck next time.
