This is very broad, as S93 suggested you ought to ask about one type of game, i.e. short handed NLHE, limit games, MTT's, etc. That'll get you much better feedback.
Doyles book is full of several poker variations, but i recomend you for tournament play the two Harrington books (three, with the workbook). They are slightly outdated, but still good stuff for beginners. Sklansky´s books are way too mathematical. There are a lot of good beginner books, poker for dummies etc. Just google a little bit or browse here in the forum. Wish you good luck at the tables !
Super System is terrible unless you're a regular in high stakes mixed games or somehow have a time machine that lets you go back and play NLHE in the 70s. And I say that with all the respect in the world for Doyle and his co-authors: it's just that the average NLHE game these days isn't played anything like the games he talks about in Super System and the material on the other games will be of little if any use.
If I had to buy one or the other, on the assumption that I actually played NLHE tournaments I'd get Harrington on Hold 'em because it's at least still relevant to today's game. But in reality I wouldn't bother with either.
Oh - if you're still looking at Super System despite that rant, don't bother getting both. Just get the second one. It's basically the first book with a few extra sections, the NLHE section is pretty much word for word the same IIRC.
Books are outdated very quickly, a forum like this is way better. Or instructional videos. A coach would be ideal. But the very best teacher is the felt...

I think that depends. A forum like this is definitely an excellent source of info, but I have learned alot from books. It's just about finding the best of the bunch, those usually stand the test of time.
I really like WINNING TOURNAMENTS ONE HAND AT A TIME VOl 1 and 2 but I jsut dont get the same respect and whenever I try to play hands like they do in the book, I get eaten alive. But if you know your stuff check out these 2 books and they do wonders with nothing.
I also like the FUll Tilt Strategy guide as it seems like it has some good stuff in it, Only problem everyone seems to know this same stuff so for me none of it works quite as good as the layouts,
