I set up the post mainly for those who have managed to form a small bank and do not know whether to launch to play cash or tournaments. I ask those who have spent more years in poker: who is the most profitable? What is more exploitable in small limits? what precautions to take in tournaments and how should I play in cash.

For beginners, I say cash games. It's a lot less variance, one set table, blinds don't increase, and the players don't get moved around unless they choose to leave. Small stakes are good for beginners.

I also like to mix in a little single table SnG to give refreshers on tournament play, with not too much variance.

in fact, I like sit and go the most. But little by little I got used to playing MTT to seek bigger prizes, more people, they have to play what they can best. And to play for money at low limits you don't need to invent a lot, study a little about positions and the hands you open from each position and have a notion of board reading, then make a solid game that will have some results.

If you are a beginner, you are better off playing freerolls. This will allow you to build up the experience you need and improve your skills without undue risk.

For beginners better to start with a small cash games. Maybe also some pot limit games. If you want to participate in the tournaments for free, you always can play freerolls, right now many rooms offer different free games, where you can get some money for your bankroll and try it without any risk.

When I started playing poker I was playing sit and go games most of all, I think this kind of games is the best in the begining for practising. Its better to play tournaments without late registartion

I CERTAINLY agree. PLay CardsChat freerolls and learn. It is a good school for free that can even earn you some $ and there are lots of experienced players too.

Build a small bankroll based on those freerolls and then start some small 1$ tournaments - that's how I would start and wish somebody gave me such advise when I was young and unexperienced and wasted lots of money for nothing.

I ask those who have spent more years in poker: who is the most profitable?

If you are a beginner, its much more important to ask, where you will learn most, and what you will enjoy most. I started playing cash games, and this is also, what I think gives the best learning curve. Stacks are deeper, which give much more room for postflop play, and you dont need to worry about things like payjumps or ICM. If cash games start to feel boring, that is the time, you might want to consider playing more tournaments.

I don't like cash games. Even after getting acquainted with poker, this format did not come to me. It's better to play sit-and-go.

i change my mind,, i think sit & go $0.25 90 player is good for beginner because the blind increase slowly every 15 minutes. You just need to invest $0.25 and practice your patience and aplying your knowledge at the table whithout worrying about losing much money in every single tournament.

i think cash games is less profitable for beginner because there is a lot of money to take risks.
Usually beginners can't control their emotions and lack knowledge on how to play poker properly which can lead them lose much more money.

It all happened to me when i just started playing poker.

Play what you enjoy the most and gives you the thrill.

For tournaments there are many things to learn and keep in track, that they will become automated and second nature after many many games, but at the beginning may be completely ignorant about.

Cash games are more straight forward and you have less things to care about.
Easier to manage for sure.

If someone has just started playing the game (meaning that he plays for a month till years without studying) I recommend nl2 full ring games and single table sit and go.
If someone studies, then play whatever you think you like the most.

The only thing about precautions is the one that 99% of people fail at xD.
Bankroll management and awareness of downswings and how to handle them to take less damage (psychologically and financially).
Play safe, solid and make sense.
And as always... have fun! xD

I would say that with a limited bankroll, either micro sit n gos or satellite tourneys are the easiest ways to go. The sit n gos are more likely to have a few players that will just go all-in pre-flop because of straight boredom. The satellite tourneys are the same. You will almost always have an advantage over these types of games.

I think a beginner should start with tournaments. Cash games can be quite risky financially.

Tournaments are much less risky as only your buyin is at risk. In cash game you can easily loose in single hand what you have earned for hours of play. You can also easily bust your entire bank if you tilt.

Better tournaments except that you bet there is nothing to lose, and the cash game is very addictive and you may not notice how you are left without a bank. You can play cache for a long time and stay with what you’ve entered.

First of all, I would recommend that you choose the type of game you like more or feel more comfortable since they are different modalities and in fact the way of playing them differs a little.
Personally, I like to play MTT and, in its absence, SnG. If you opt for this type of games, my recommendation would be that you start playing freerolls or if you have some banking read a good article on banking management (there are many) to avoid losing everything in the first experience.

The game in MTT and SnG is very dynamic and has many different situations, which involve changes in strategy within the same tournament. There are many online articles that explain general strategies to face each phase of a tournament, and it would be enough to start playing in micro limits.

regards

Tournaments is the better route. More structure and less rash decisions per hand in case of losing bankroll.

Hi mate.If you are a beginner none of them. You should try first freerolls. You will earn some money without any risks. Then, when you reach a decent bankroll you can choose between the 2 options.I prefer 6 max cash games. because you can earn money faster than in tournaments and , the blinds never change
