I imagine that most other people on this site have been where I've been. Holding King King preflop and about 90% sure that someone else in the hand has Aces. EVen with that overwhelming sense of certainty that I'm beat I personally have never laid down pocket kings preflop. I'm interested in both the odds involved in this phenomenon and also people's personal feelings and opinions on what they would do in a similar situation.

funny I just lost my huge stack like 5 min ago with KKvs AA I KNEW he had AA and I wouldnt fold them.

The problem with having KK preflop is when you have that feeling when someone reraises you and you know the results are not going to turn out good.

Nothing you can do, have to take the loss.

Never! But I have lost so many hands with KK. Of course I don't recall the ones I win so...

It's probably stupid to throw out kings. I never do that. Even against aces, they have a chance to win.

It is a difficult decision, but KK does not fold preflop, there are many variants by which you can take that decision

To fold pocket kings pre-flop is possible - at least in theory. If it is a fight of several re-raises, which ends all-in from the opponent, then it's worth stopping and making an important decision. The probability of getting an ace on the flop is dangerously high. Determine during the betting the strength of the opponent's hand - this is the key to success.

I do not remember time when I folding the kings. One day I folded pocket aces, for some strange sense of danger. Then I did not see the flop and the opponent got 25% of my stack. I do not do this any more.

It is possible to fold pocket Kings. Everything is up to you and with your mind in that moment. Sometimes some people know their opponent has AA and they find really hard way to fold their pocket Kings. So folding monster hand is not a bad move if you don't feel good about that hand, even if they bluff you, you don't need to feel bad. So folding monster hand pre-flop can be really hard but you can do it, and you must do it from time to time!

I'm not sure that I can fold KK. It is very difficult for me.

Hello! The last time I had a KK came this scene. UTG call, the button go all-in, and I go all-in to! I suspected that UTG had AA but actually had AK. My chip stack and UTG stack were almost equal, the button was around 5K.

I don't fold KK's preflop. I have seen players fold it only to be shown that the KK's were ahead. So, I don't fold KK's preflop. If they have AA's then so be it.

I don't think I've ever folded KK preflop. If you're folding KK, there's not much left that you will play is there? You can't really "know" for sure that an opponent has AA unless you've got supernatural powers. Play KK because it's the second best hand there is.

Unless it’s a high stakes poker game I’m not going to fold preflop. The odd of the villain having AA while you hold KK is less than 5%.

I can't fold KK preflop , seems to me like a huge misplay . 2nd best hand in poker to throw away cause you're afraid opponent/one of opponents have better hand or you gonna get outdraw , not in my world !

I try to never go all in pre flop. Folding a monster pair isnt going to happen preflop.

There are times I can see doing it though like if your in position and 3+ people went all in. I can see folding the KK. There are other things to consider though such as the playing style of the other player (nit or lag).

Think last time I went all in preflop was when I had AA. Turns out villian had AA as well. Well the board flushed and turned a split to a win. So you never know what could happen.

I think I've only ever folded KK 1 time and it was to 3 allins ahead of me, 2 super deep stacks and I had nothing invested. It's possible but only under extraordinary circumstances. And yes I was right.

I have folded queens preflop on the bubble but kings...I don't think so.

Pocket KK is second best hand to see plus it has Equity of winning AA I think 1/3 times or so I have read. I haven't folded KK even If there are multiple callers. Great hand has made me lots of wins and few losses..

Once in the weekly tournament PokerStars for Bronze Star, I was on a bubble, and to get into prizes I had to fold the pocket pair of KK on the preflop. It was a difficult decision for me.

In Sats yes, Especially If you have the seat locked up by folding and a stack similar to yours Is shoving A.I and playing like an absolute Nutter.

Also the only other time I'd consider ever folding KK Is In an MTT where the "Min Cash Is a substantial amount to you and you free-rolled your way Into the event".

The last and possible circumstance Is If you have the "Soul read on a certain Individual that you have played with countless of times and you know this person only does this when they've got you with AA and are hoping you respond by doing this or that".

It is difficult to throw the KK, I always keep this, if an A goes on the table bad luck.

Not for 100bb and if it's extremely deep 300bb or something i wouldn't stack off pre id play postflop.

I’ll never throw KK away pre. I’ll fold it post flop if it looks like I’m beat though.

I’ve definitely won more with KK pre than I’ve lost. Even beats AA a certain percentage of the time.

In a SNG or Tournament it's very easy, or should be, to get away from KK and AA in the late stages near the bubble or a big payout change, especially if you think you 're behind.

In a cash game you have to take the hit unfortunately.

I'm sure that 99% will not throw out the KK pre-flop. This can happen only in very large and important tournaments where professionals play. I personally watched it. On freerolls in general there is no question about it.

I've been on both sides of that battle many times . It's just one of those things in poker that you just can't do anything about . But I could never fold KK pre flop . Better luck next time .

it depends a lot on my stack, for example if I'm near the bubble with less chips than my opponent who pushed all in, I would think there was a good chance he would have AA. In case I would fold, I did not want to give the chance to lose a tournament that I played several hours to try the luck against a possible AA, Often, I believe that you really should trust your ability, and drop your hand in situations that do not believed to be possible. but it was difficult.

I fold easily if I'm near the prize.No way I 'll lose 2 or 3 hours for nothing.Just frustration so I prefer a good fold and wait for my money even if it is 75ç.

There are a lot of things to analyze before any decision.

If I am close to te bubble, money to be ITM i will fold against many players going all in, else if I have enough chips to stay in the tournament after lose this hand.

Some plays will shove or 3bet with a large range, like TT+, A8s+, ATo+, sometimes will raise allin with these cards and low pairs too. KK will be lucrative in a big part of the game, but some times There are no justify to risk your stack and lose the tournament, fold is a good move, we will fold anything about 75% or more of our hands.

Lol it's depends upon which opponent you are playing, if u r playing a tight player if he re raised u definitely he holding something big, but never fold against loose or lose aggressive.

Yes twice actually. Once during a live game, where this very intoxicated indavidual very frist hand of the tournament went from dead serious, to happiest guy in the room. You would have thought it was his birthday or something. Open shoves frist hand...2 callers....Im in the cutoff and I tank...if this guy doesn't have AA, I'm sure one of the other do. Cause that guy want from looking pissed off at the world, to thinking he just hit a 1.5M progressive Jackpot. So I folded, of course he had AA, the 2nd guy had AKo, and the and the 3rd player had AKs. Absalutly amazing to me. I tried to get the dealer to show my hand after they ran it out but they wouldn't.

The 2nd time I was in the BB, and the table was getting pretty hostile. 1 guy already got DQed for langague, and was escorted out. A couple of his buddies were still in. And was defending him.....needless to say it was a little crazy. Pissed off friend UTG shoves spilling chips all over the table, UTG+1 shoves over the top with having everyone covered. This old guy that I've watched fold JJ in almost this exsact same spot with really shaky old man hands grabs his chips and says "All in". If that's not enough. The guy who started the scuffle chuckles and shoves himself...fold to me...if the old man that was quite as a ghost wasn't enough, I wasn't getting caught up in that drama....sure enough old man had the Rockets...but still lost to a boat from the guy that started the fight in the frist place hold T5o....

Never fold kg you ride or die with them scared money makes no money if that A drops so be it but that's poker for you good luck at the tables

as for odds, it depends on how many at table.
take the number of plays at the table besides you, for instance 8 in a 9 handed table and divide it into 210 (the odds anyone will be dealt AA) and then you have the odds, roughly 26-1 in that instance, now you know why you shouldnt fold...

i totally agree about the certainty of another player having a pocket pair & have posted on the forum about this issue regarding PS & 888! i play live poker alot where at showdowns this does not happen. but this still wouldn't make me fold Kings! cheers my friend #Phenomena

proper poker play is to raise preflop with pair kings. Actual game play i've found someone always calls your raise with only an ace and then ends up getting a pair of aces. I've seen it time and time again. I've started hating getting pocket kings.

and yes the odds are in your favour with pocket kings but in reality your kings lose more often than they are meant to.

At the beginning of slow or expensive tournaments in the beginning I can throw out KK + 100bb. Play more hands in the tournament and win on the mistakes of other players than putting the tournament life in jeopardy at the beginning of the tournament.

If you are in a tournament and there are 4 ppl shoving their stacks in ahead of you, it may be the right time to fold KK. like 50+ bb deep. Even if nobody has AA, you're still more likely to lose your stack than win in a 5 way pot.

If in late position, and there are 2 or more opponents already in, you are the individual favorite to win the hand, but no longer the collective fave. Someone else will probably draw out to win. Against one person, there is only one hand you are not a fave against, AA.

is possible to fold them playing live poker when you can be very certain a player is having AA still not an easy fold but defenatly possible , as speaking about online poker i would never fold KK pre flop , and i think is bad strategy doing so online
