It is best to analyze the player's behavior to notice the betting pattern. Additionally, knowing the Poker statistics can help you calculate the probability for you to win a hand. Some people think that there isn't enough time to calculate the probability but there are few simple calculations that can be done within 20 seconds.

One formula that can be used is the rule of two and four. You multiply the number of cards that can give you a win with 4 if there are two cards to come and you multiply with 2 if there is only one card to come.

Example 1:

You hold 6 and 7. On the flop there is 8, 9 and A. If we assume that your opponent holds A and K the probability is the following:

On the Flop: 8*4 = 32%
On the river: 8*2= 8%

8 is the number of cards that can give you a straight (we have fours 10s and four fives in the stack )
This isn't 100% accurate but it is good enough to work with on the table.

Example 2:

You hold A and J. On the flop there is 8, Q and A. If the opponent has A and 8, you are waiting for a J. The probability for one J to come out of the 3 left in the stack is 3*4=12%, which is really low.

It is important to note that if you are waiting for a straight and at the same time for a flush to win there is a significantly greater probability to win the hand. The probability for a win also increases on the river.

When you notice the opponent's strategy you can guess what he/she is holding and what is the probability for you to win. Even though the probability plays a big part in the game, Poker is still a game of luck.

Good luck everybody! :D
