we all came across a situation where we had pocket small pairs and our opponent made 3 bet. Is it worth call for a set? Against which opponents? It is clear that we will often fold post-flop on the c-bet, but I think that it is not always advantageous to throw out small pocket pairs after the aggression of the opponent ?!

It really depends. The only hand that will really ever pay you here is a high pocket pair that misses their set. Most people won’t throw away AA or KK or QQ against a 582 Board. So if u hit a set of 5s, say, you’ll probably cash in big time. On the other hand, other 3bet range hands would fold to a lot of bets on that board. Ax or Kx shouldn’t have an issue folding if u just called a 3bet and bet into that flop. That’s the thing.. you kinda have to bet because you can’t give a higher pocket pair a free chance to turn or river their 3rd card. You flat called a 3bet, you’re opponent is not going to think you’re playing with complete air.

I don’t think you call a 3bet from anywhere besides the button and MAYBE cutoff. Just for the advantage of seeing the flop and acting last. Easier to fold a bet if u miss than to get raised off of a semi bluff with a missed set if you were out of position. Even then, you’ll probably not make too much money most of the time.
