Is there an age at which learning to play poker without investing too much time becomes more challenging?

I'm 60yrs. old. I also have a disease that affects my ability to think. (fwiw I'm able to beat low stakes online) I believe playing poker can actually help to keep your mind younger... but as with most things regarding poker 'it depends'. (it depends on how much you use it while playing).

imo, it's never too late to learn how to play poker and to become fairly good at the game. But I do think your chances at achieving greatness would be better at a younger age.

I don't think you should ever stop learning. Doyle Brunson was still playing cards until weeks before his death and he said he was still learning. So, I don't think age is a barrier.

Poker is a semi-mathematical game that requires luck and cold calculation of probabilities. This is not a completely reliable and by no means an easy way to generate income, as many people believe. But you can play even at 65 years old, here I am 56 years old and I feel great, although I am tired of eating after 3 hours of playing or more.

There should never be a limit on you being able to do anything, especially learning. Unfortunately WE ourselves are almost always our own worst enemies and allow our mind to tell us otherwise. If you've got the capacity to learn, and the want or willingness to do so. Or you want to become better at anything. Education and education are the best things you possibly could achieve. No matter what there's a will there is a way......don't ever allow anything to tell you otherwise.

I think learning something is not late never we are learning for all our life and poker is not a exclusion

I guess that at a later age is more difficult to learn in general. But I think that still is possible to improve.

Learning new concepts does, of course get harder as we get older. The brain is much more receptive to new ideas and information and retains these better when we are younger, but it is by no means impossible to learn at a later stage in life.

One thing is for sure though; whether you believe you can, or you can't, you are correct.

Another thing to consider is, that as you get older, you probably want to slow down a bit. If you are well past your youth, its not a good idea trying to play 24 tables at a time. And nor do you want to play for 20 hours in a row or at times, where your body wants to sleep. But if you respect your limits, you can still have fun with poker and be a winning player.

I think most people can learn the game pretty easy, especially if they love card games already. The main worry as in any endeavor is how much time we devote to this hobby. Make sure your responsibilities are taken care of and do not keep depositing good money chasing losses.

Number of tooth decrease as age goes up so , During cash game, when running out of cash , at least elderly player can bet their dentures.

I don’t think there is any age limit to start learning poker.

It depends a lot on each person, you can be 20 years old and consider yourself old, another is 80 years old and considers yourself young, I don't see any barriers and much less difficulties, I consider poker an important activity for our brain

There is no limit, I'm 24 and I'm just starting, I consider that age in poker has nothing to do and is not a limit.
